Best Player Available does not count. Make a choice in this one.

My personal choice, heavy hitting defenseman.

In the first round, I'll go the BPA route with the guy with the highest potential.

i dont know if Schenn will last at number 6 but if he were there...who knows
i wouldnt mind seeing them trade up. it would probobly involve trading our first, and maybe prucha/dawes/ and callahan to start
maybe a 2nd rounder and we add hollweg as and we owe them

If all it takes is our 1st and Prucha, I'll take that deal, sign on the dotted line, and take Prucha to the airport or bus depot.

However, I chose skilled forward.

The rumor is that CBJ are talking with SJ about a deal involving the 6th pick and Zherdev for Marleau (a center to play next to Nash) and another player (believed to be Matt Carle). There's the cost.

Skilled forward.

Mattias Tedenby
Jordan Eberle
Anton Gustafsson
Jared Staal
Mikhail Stefanovich
Greg Nemisz
Zac Dalpe
Corey Trivino
Mitch Wahl
Tyler Ennis

You get the point.

We have far more holes to fill upfront then on the back end.

There are a lot of Centers in this draft, and although we do not have any real need for centers, some of them can be switched to wing. This would be an advantage, as centers generally have a higher sense of defensive responsibility, and this would also give us multiple guys on each line that can take an important face off.

So, needless to say, with the first pick at least i would take a forward.

Unless John Carlson is available or someone that was supposed to go high drops big time im going with Highly Skilled forward.

btw...did anyone notice in the THN draft guide it says the Rangers have pick 21.......that a mistake?

Given the options, I went with highly skilled forward. If a guy like Tedenby (or even Ennis, though I may stand alone on that one) is there at 20 you have to pick him.

That said, I still want to draft the strict BPA - and in this draft that will most likely be a defenseman. If Carlson, Teubert, or even Ness are on the board (and the forward pool is lacking) I would hope the Rangers would draft one of them.

That would be a great deal for San Jose.

Clears up cap space for someone like Hossa.

Michalek - Thornton - Cheechoo
Zherdev - Pavelski - Hossa

Pretty good.

Yup, Philly made it to the final four, so they drop to 27 I believe.

Their magazines are always a little behind with things because while they are editing it, things in the real world change... they have to get the magazines printed and distributed, so no way to possibly keep up to date with each issue.

So, when the Rangers moved up to #20, the Draft Review must have been at the printer.

Thats my guess. I worked at a book publisher as a graphic designer and coincidently THN uses one of the same printers we did (Transcontinental).

I don't care if it's a sniper or power forward, I just want to grab a good forward.

I wouldn't mind if they picked a defenseman however, hopefully Carlson or Teubert.

There is a big possibility that at least one of the guys that seems out of reach will drop to us, it's happened before and last year Cherepanoved dropped like 10 spots from where he was projected to go. Hopefully this year it's Tedenby, and long shot would be Beach, I think he's going to be great.

At the risk of being difficult, and I did read the disclaimer, the answer for me really is and should be Best Player Available.

I put crease clearing defenseman hoping that either Carlson or Teubert will be still around at 20. I have serious doubts at this point that Carlson will be available. If it turns out we take a forward--other than Tedenby I think most of the really skilled guys will be gone and he is the only small, skilled guy who I expect may be available that I would use our first on. Dalpe might be interesting. A power forward like Nemisz or a large two way forward might be okay--a trade down LA (32, 47) STL (33,34) Phoe (37,38, 48), Nash (31,45) may be a way to go if we can do a two for one. If that were the case--guys I might target would be Staal, Livingston, Wahl, Paquette, Gustafsson among the forwards--Cuma, Comrie, Sauve, Fienhage, Burlon, Goloubef among the d-men.

I'm a BPA type person, but I'll play along.

I went with skilled forward.

Right now that's my biggest concern.

Beyond that would be a tough as nails defenseman.
