Hasek turns down 3.5 mil 1 year deal with "Avangard"

http://esports.lv/hokejs/07062008-ha...rd_piedavajumu

The link is a latvian sports site, but it quotes Russian newspapers as their refference.

The rough translation is that "Avangard" have offered him a one year deal worth 3.5 million, and Hasek has turned it down. It also says that Red Wings wouldn't mind keeping him for another season, but he hasn't made a decision yet.
Hasek: "I've no interest in money. I need motivation. Let me think for a couple of days and I'll make a decision"

Didn't they just sign Grahame to a pretty decent sized contract? Makes no sense that they would go after Hasek as well for that kind of money.

Here's another link in Russian - my Russian isn't that good, so I can't really translate it, but it seems to say - word for word - what the Latvian article said.

It will be interesting to see just how many do sign. 3.5 to 4.0 million tax free looks like it will be the tops in the Continental League.

It's not entirely tax free. the income tax is something like 13 per cent over there

I could have sworn I read something about the RSL limiting the number of foreign born goalies allowed in the RSL.

It was posted under Kontinental Hockey League news on that Russian site, so even if there is such thing, it might not apply here.
