we dont have teh room for him, especially if we are still going after a top line player. [lang, zhamnov, what ever]

the only way we can add him is if there is a trade in the wings where we are getting rid of 2 current roster players [dandy, holmstrom is my only guess].

i hope not. He would be a good adition, but at the deadline if we do get a player, we would already have to sit a ok player in dandenault upfront...

when healthy our top 12 are:
yzerman, shanahan, hull, zetterberg, datsyuk, whitney, draper, maltby, mccarty, thomas, holmstrom, dandenault.

If we get corson, then already we gotta sit dandenault or move him to defense again and send rivers down. If we get him AND someone at the deadline, then we gotta sit 1 of thomas or homlstrom in the playoffs, and thats stupid.

After wasting no time in removing head-case Hasek's nameplate from his stall, I doubt Ken Holland would race out to sign another head-case, no matter how gritty. I would love to see the Wings acquire Jeff O'Neill but doubt they have the assets or a very eager partner in the 'Canes.

I agree totally. Wings already had a soap opera with Hasek here. No need to add another.

Wings are already pretty deep in terms of foot soldiers at forward. They could use a center but one better than Corson

Is Howard Berger the same guy that said Lang to Detroit was a done deal?

With Yzerman saying the Wing's need another McCarty type player- someone with some toughness but who can also actually play a regular shift- this could be a possibility. Ever since I saw the Yzerman quote and that Corson was considering a return I thought Detroit might be one of the teams after him. I would guess Corson's situation in Toronto had more to it than him just quitting on the team but somebody can correct me if they know the details. My first options for Detroit would be to go after O'Neill or Laraque but O'Neill's going to have a huge pricetag if he even goes and Laraque's playing the "trade me and I'll retire" card at age 26 so Corson might be a more realistic option. I just wonder what kind of shape he's in this late in the season after not playing- it's not like he had all that many years left in him to begin with much less the debilitating colitis attacks. Gritty guys with any game at all are in high demand now though, so if he wants to play some team will give him a chance.

I dont think Corson has anything left. Not sure why this would really help the Wings. But then again, I thought Steve Thomas was washed up too. And when healthy, he has played very well this year.

I dont know...I still dont want the Wings to get Corson. There has to be better options.

I don't think I'd like this very much. They wouldn't have to give up anyone to get him and he'd probably just play third line but he's got a lot of to prove. He would provide the grit that Yzerman was calling for. I'm not so sure this is such a hot idea though. The Wings already had to deal with Hasek bailing on them...Corson better not think about doing that with this veteran crew.

There has to be. I don't want another quitter on this wings roster. They already seem to have bad chemistry and a lack of effort/desire on most nights. Corson just seems like bad news.

Nick Kypryos says Corson is going to Dallas.

No wonder the NHL can't keep control of its payrolls when GMs actually find value in stiffs like Ray and Corson.

Who knows where he will end up? The last week, everyone from Dallas, Detroit, Philly, Florida, Colorado and Montreal has come up.

There are apparently a few teams intersted in ex-Toronto Maple Leaf Shayne Corson and one of those teams is said to be the Dallas Stars. It's not a done deal, but someone in the know tells Andrew's it is a " pretty likely possibility real soon."
Oh man.. I don't want him.. I don't want the Stars to even consider these type of players. Graves, Lemieux, Corson..

From Steve Simmons:

" And if an NHL contender is looking for a quitter who will divide your dressing room, stay out too late at night, and throw hotel parties smack in the middle of playoff series, then that man is, in fact, available. Shayne Corson is looking for work and hard to believe, there is apparent interest ... "

No Wonder the NHL is in financial trouble. Obvious Bush League GMs and owners driving salaries completely out of whack.
