If ya hadn't already...

Go ahead and pick that 2nd favorite team and start pulling for them...

I recommend the following:
For this season only...
Colorado or Detroit maybe Dallas

For this and future seasons...
Calgary, San Jose, Montreal

For future only...
Columbus or Chicago

Sure there are other teams but these are the ones that seem most fun to watch.

NOTE: this really should have been done 4 or 5 seasons ago.

I don't know why you'd want to root for Colorado, Detroit, or Dallas, seeing that there the teams that are always there in the end. It's like rooting for the Devils as well.
I'm pulling for Tampa in the East and the Sharks in the West.

I usually route for Ottawa when the Rangers are out of it, since if you define "hometown team" by the one geographically closest to your really small hometown, they would be mine.

i was just suggesting teams that i think are fun to watch...i can see people hating any of those first three teams. But Dallas is no favorite and are fun to watch lately.

Ottawa can be fun to watch...

It's hard to like any team when you hate 99% of their fans...their enjoyment is my misery.

That's always tough. Last year I pulled for the Wild since they became sort of my adopted second team when they were born where I now live, but I doubt they'll make it this year. But most years, I kinda end up rooting for individual players first, and teams based on that. There are always those guys out there who have been around a long time, put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into the game, and don't have a ring to show for it. I rooted for the Avs for a couple of years because of Bourque.

This year, I don't know, as long as it's not Jersey, Philly or the Islanders. I would like to see some different teams in the Finals this year, certainly a different winner. Hard to believe that only one of the ten cups awarded since we won it went to someone other than Colorado, Detroit or Jersey. And, it would be nice to see the finals return to Canada again, since this may be the last chance for that for a while. A Vancouver-Ottawa finals would be kinda cool, both talented teams that are a lot of fun to watch. Calgary is another team I'll be pulling for, looks like they're about to break the only running non-playoff streak longer than the Rangers, so I can understand what their fans have been through. (Hopefully, one day, I'll be able to understand what it feels like to break such a streak.)

I know because of your location that you like the Wild but I can't because I dislike Lemaire and absolutely hate that puke Matt Johnson. Every team mentioned I can think of a reason to dislike them unfortunately. Really, my dislike for other teams has increased since coming to message boards where I can see, first hand, what ***** their fans can be. Maybe Calgary cause nobody has pissed me off from there yet.

C'mon folks, how about getting behind the Isles.
They are are a likeable bunch that are doing
it less with talent and more with hard work
A great story since Yashin went down...

I'll agree with ya there, slick. But sorry can't like a team that put Gordon's Fisherman on their jersey.

JCProdigy - i feel for ya. That is a harsh position to be in. What you have to do is pick the lesser of evils and go with them to beat all the other EVILS. For instance, for me...i don't want the Devils to win it. So i pull for Colorado out of the west and then Ottawa or Toronto in the east. Someone to beat the devils.

If it ain't the Rangers...

and likely it ain't, I wouldn't mind seeing Tampa in the East...or heck, wouldn't mind seeing Florida or Atlanta make a run.

In the West...I've always pulled for Calgary. Would like you like to see them in the playoffs.

My order of dislike for our Rivals are: 1) Isles, most hated of course. 2) Devils. 3) Flyers. So if they were playing each other in the playoffs and I had to choose who I would rather have win, then I pull for either Philly or the Devs if they are playing the Isles, for Philly if they play the Devs, and eventually always pull for any team the 3 rivals would be playing. As for the teams I am cheering for now would be San Jose in the West and Ottawa in the East. Not suprisingly, both teams are the exact opposite of the Rangers, they're young and home grown, and they're playoff bound...

I like the way Ottawa runs their organization. Relying on youth to fill holes. They built their team from the ground up. Solid foundation.

Couldn't root for the Isles or Devils if they were the only two teams left in the league. I'll root for Ottawa, they have a great young team.

I like Ottawa. Jacques Martin is a great coach and I've always liked Havlat. Watching Spezza grow will be fun, too.
