Minor Swedish Prospect Inquiries (merged)

What can you guys tell me about him? I heard multiple accounts that at the ducks/sharks prospect game he was the best player on the ice.

Filip Gunnarsson

Anyone who know much about this Kid, he played very well in the Team 18 against Finland with 7 points in 2 games .

How does he play and how good is he ?

Any draft prediction on him ?

Warg is actually pretty unknown in Sweden. He was one of the most surprising, if not the most surprising, swedish draft pick in the 2008 draft. He has never played for the swedish national team, or for Västerås in Hockeyallsvenskan (SEL-2), so I think it's safe to say that most swedish hockey fans haven't actually seen him play. However, I've seen him and I think he's a good, reliable defensive D-man, but I don't consider him as a hot prospect - I think there are many better youngsters here (Sweden) - even though his game might be more effective on the smaller ice in North America.

Swedish Prospect Inquiries

I've been trying to find information on some lesser-known Swedish prospects eligible for this year's draft.

Carl Klingberg
Simon Bertilsson
Casper Carning
Ludwig Karlsson
Mattias Lindström
Jakob Silfverberg
Adam Almquist
John Norman

Any information is much appreciated!

(Mods might also want to sticky this as a repository for all further prospect inquiries. )

Check out www.eliteprospects.com

I don't know if they have what you need, but try it. I know a lot about Silfverberg and Bertilsson as they play for my local team.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and sold it on e-Bay. They have zero information on these guys.

That's why I came here.

Basic info

Stefan is a defense first player. He got the size and the right moves to develop to a skilled defense.
He had great possibilities to develop in Sweden and was on the roster for Vasteras in three games in their qualification to SEL last spring. He played one game against Mora with no points and -1.
He had made big steps in his progress this summer and was picked up for the Anaheim main camp to see and learn. He will be one of the key players for Seattle this season

i like gunnarsson's progress. with 4 points in 6 games he even starts scoring.
he looks improved this season. his defensive abilities were never in doubt, but he starts creating offensive action.

and compared to staffan kronwall i'd say that gunnarsson is less physical, but the better hockey player in every other aspect. i never liked staffan that much.

not sure if gunnarsson is good enough for the NHL, but he's at least worth a longer look.

gunnarsson can come back to örebro in 2 years, when they will play elitserien again.

i personally think kronwall belongs in the nhl. he has very little offensive game but his play with the puck in his zone is consistent. he also likes to hit, though he's backed off since entering the league and realizing that the players here are bigger and rougher, he's somewhat lanky.

hopefully others have something to share about carl. i like him as a prospect, maybe a solid #5/6 defenceman in the nhl one day.

how bout them abbott boys, i know they are canadian but they are in Rogle. Stats are pretty good for first year players who are on a team that is expected to finish near the bottom. can anyone comment on their play?

The Abbotts are very hardworking players and they have some skills, but they aren't exactly top players in SEL. They are better than people expected though.

Simon Bertilsson - should be a second round pick. A very skilled defenseman... He just needs to get stronger, but I'm sure he will do that.

Jakob Silfverberg - was the best swedish player in U18-WC last season according to the coaches. He's a very good two way winger with good skating and hockey sense... capable of flashy moves... more a playmaker than a goalscorer.

Another Brynäs J20 player to watch out for next NHL-draft is Anton Rödin.

Silfverberg has played 2 SEL games during the last week and is expected to play his third today.

He has been far better than expected, and is unlucky to still have the stats 0+0 after 2 games. He looks very good, and the NT's U20-coach recently admitted that Silfverberg is still under consideration for U20-WC.

Silfverberg and Bertilsson have been offered senior team contracts by Brynäs.

And their profiles have been updated on eliteprospects.com
