Have faith in the EK he is just so busy talking to his sources and is going to break the trade any minute now.

It consistently amazes me that so many people can think that they know everything while, at the same time, demonstrating a lack of basic reading comprehension. Eklund's headline ends in a question mark (unlike the title of this thread), he never "claims" that anything will happen, he just gives exact quotes of what he was told, and the rumor was that something would happen Monday or Tuesday. If you're going to criticize him, at least get things right and be fair; otherwise, you just look like someone who can't read and can't be fair, both of which demonstrate that your credibility isn't any better.

I'll take it at Ottawa time. I get to rip on Ek 3 hours earlier, it really feels like a privelege.

No way in hell Spezza gets traded wihtout a No1 center coming back. And even then it would be absurd. Spezza is signed for seven years. Ottawa is still a contender, there are no true No1 centers in the free agent pool this year. I predict no big moves for the Sens, monir adjustments wil do the job just fine.

What?

So long as Olli's on the Panthers, or any good player is there apparently, there will be trade rumours. He's been rumoured to be on the move for years, he's still a Panther. I'll believe he's moved when it actually happens, which wil still probably take me seeing him in a different sweater.

Man, an Eklund does cause a stir here, 8 pages went quick.
*I just read Ek's page on this...how does he have Olli going to Calgary or Vancouver in the ***(Which means what?) trade and also involved in a 3 way involving Edmonton?

It really amazes me that as much as some of you complain about Eklund and cry about the attention he receives, you then proceed to give him all the attention you don't want him to have. If you really didn't want him to have any attention, you wouldn't talk about him at all - good or bad. There's a reason Hollywood says, "any publicity is good publicity" - because it shows that people care, and that the celeb involved is still capable of making money. Once people quit talking and they no longer care, the celeb disappears from the public view and turns into Kathy Griffin or Danny Bonaduce to gain attention.

If you want Eklund to go away, ignore him. It's that simple. In St. Louis, John Hadley was a major player in sports talk until over a year ago when he promised on his website to write a 5-piece summary of the Blues over the course of a week. Two weeks later, he hadn't written the first part and many people criticized him for [yet again] saying one thing and doing another; he then posted the first part, went on the air and blasted everyone who ripped him for failing to deliver as promised, and said something along the lines of, "I'll write what I want when I want, and those of you who want to see those other 4 parts can **** off because I'm not writing them." Instead of ripping on him and giving him even more attention, I and several others suggested we simply ignore Hadley and it would show just how irrelevant he had become.

A year later, no one talks about what Hadley says ... and while he's still on the radio, his presence there has taken a major hit - because no one cares what he has to say ... good or bad.

It's really simple, folks. If you really want Eklund to go away, quit talking about him and make him irrelevant. However, I'll bet $20 that six months from now, some of you are still here complaining about him - and thus giving him attention you wish he wouldn't get.

Haha. Every Eklund-related thread eventually degrades to paragraph-long posts about why people should or shouldn't criticize him. I don't think *either* side will ever learn

He has one but it doesn't kick in until the 2010 season which i didnt know when i made that comment. Regardless its going to take tons more than Pitkanen and a couple prospects to get Spezza from Ottawa. You start talking about packaging up Gagner with Hemsky then there may be something to talk about.

I'm not sure what is more absurd, an Eklund rumour getting 8 pages or the value of Spezza around here?

I really hope Ottawa doesn't move Spezza, all be more than happy to keep the bum here for the next 7 years. I can only imagine how good he is going to be by the time he is 27....

Question for the Oil fan, if you guys make the playoffs and Gagne is terrible for a series or 2 can we make this deal?

To Ott:
Gagne

To Edm:
Meszaros

By your standards that would be fair, would it not?

I think he would go away quicker if a certain hockey web based BB did not give him legit credentials --when I was back in Canada a buddy of mine showed me the video of his antics on trade deadline day a few years ago--that was funny and it exposed him for what he was and still is---

I more or less view these topics like a montypython skit that was left on the bottom of the bird cage--it is quite amusing watching the debate when he really gives no real details and how posters fill in the blanks
