How the hell are we going to pay all these guys..?
We're not.
We're not signing a UFA defenseman, especially Campbell (I don't consider Streit a defenseman anymore). It's not in the cards. If we need one, we'll get one at the deadline next season. Look at how cheap Stuart came. There are defensemen of his caliber available every year for reasonable prices.
Every year it's the same old story from June 10 to July 10...every year it's the same old result.
No impact UFA...we're building from the inside and patching it with low-end UFA's (Bonk, smokes, kosto...) and we got better by doing so, therefore no need to change the recipe.
I don't understand the Brian Campbell one. If Gainey is going to spend big money somewhere, it will certainly not be on the blueline.
call me crazy but I think the Habs need another D-man and a better 3rd line to shut the other team's best line. The offense is fine, even if it doesn't produce as much as last year, at least the Habs could cut down on goals allowed a little and give Price some more help. I couldn't care less for most forwards except Sundin and Hossa perhaps.

Campbell isnt the solution though, not for that part in bold!

I have no problem with bringing in another defenseman (in fact I agree with you), but Campbell is going to be asking for big bucks. You really want to pay 7M+ for Campbell when we are already paying Markov and Hamrlik 5M+ each then Komisarek is gonna need a raise. Our top 3 D is fine. What we need is a solid #4. Now O'Byrne will be that guy someday but he's not there yet.
And speaking of Komisarek...geez, I was just looking at the NHL numbers site and to see UFA for Komi after next season and he is only 25 is scary.

Chipchura can be that player, he dominates against the boards and is always in such great position. If he can learn how to improve in the face off circle he could be a huge lift for the Habs next season. At the very least he will be 3 times the player Smolinski was (during the regular season, excluding games against the Devils).
How is this news to anybody? We all know that each UFA period, almost all players are rumoured to go to either Montreal or to Toronto.
I'm in for the Campbell signing, but not for the big money that's going to be thrown at him. If I were to sign someone at 7-8 per season, I'd want it for a superstar forward....Hossa e3.
I always wondered how he got the power rankings for players before the UFA period. Does he have contacts that are making it known that a team is going after a player? Doesn't that kinda count as interference? I usually think he's blowing hot air like usual anyways.

haha. We should re-sign Smoke just to play 4 times a year against NJ.

I wouldn't mind making a big pitch at Roszival, he'd be the perfect #4 D-man and would be awesome on our PP.
Eklund does a horrible job explaining his ratings, because every week someone gets it wrong.
E3 doesn't mean "50% chance trade will happen", it means he has valuable sources saying the trade is possible. An E4 means he has some sort of inside knowledge it could happen, not "The deal is almost done, just wait for it".
This used to piss me off but now it just makes me laugh. Everyone knows Gainey has interest in Sundin and Hossa. Of course they'd be E3's!
