Glad he's traded. Never been a fan of MAB. Wish him luck with the Wild.

Shocked that he got a third for him...I thought it was supposedly SUCH a stretch that Burke gave up what he did for him initially. Good work.

Solid trade by Burkey. We need a bit more picks in the earlier rounds.

not bad, basically aquiring MAB cost the Ducks moving down 2 spots in the 3rd round(which for most practical purposes probably means nothing). I am guessing there was no way the team would have exercised it's option on MAB.

Is this pick in this years draft, or next?

At first I thought trading a D-man would mean we'd keep Scotty around, but even if he does go, we still have enough of 'em. I wasn't too fond of Bergeron either, so I'm cool with this.

I was totally expecting Burkie to simply pass on his option. The fact that he got a 3rd rounder back is awesome.

Holy crap. I was expecting his option to be denied and to lose him for nothing. To get anything back is amazing. The fact that we essentially got the same (too high) pick that we sent to NY is even more shocking.

I'm not into smileys, but this just says it so well.

Initially, I didn't like the trade that got us MAB for a 3rd but getting it back, that speaks for itself.

Hmm. According to NHL.com (which released the draft order), it looks like it was the Edmonton pick that was sent to NYI for MAB and not ours. So in essence we rented MAB for a drop from 73 to 85. Bleh.

Works for me. That's practically getting him for free. Good work Burkie.

im probably the only one that didnt want to see him go. i wanted to see him rip more of the 100 mph shots from the point. if only he could hit the net and play defense.

Don't you get enough missed slapshots and bad defense from Schneider and Beauchemin?

Frankie, yeah but Schneids hits the net quite a bit.

What's with the talk all of a sudden about Schneider having bad defense? I watched every game this season and he was great except for a handful of times. I'd love to have him back again this year if we can afford it.

If all we are going on is our 1 round with Dallas in the playoffs then look at how the entire team performed too, it wasn't like Schneids was the only guy sucking, Niedermayer and Pronger (especially niedermayer) were just plain horrible.

and correct me if I'm wrong, but as a pairing, didn't Schneider / Huskins have the best +/- this season?

yeah, Schneider was fine. Some revisionist history going on. We had defensive woes early on, and you can put the blame for that squarely on the shoulders of Beauchemin, Pronger, and the absence of Saviormeyer.

As soon as Schneider came from his injury and got up to speed he was solid.

Uhm... no Schneider was awful in the playoffs. I can remember him being beaten so many times by Dallas' forwards. The fault was not with him, but he's not worth the $$$ he's earning.

Isles GM Garth Snow was asked about this at the last fan Q & A session. He stated that Isles got Anaheim's pick, not EDM's.

Makes me wonder if there is a mistake on this list.
