So... what do you guys think should be the Stars' shooting order next year? Things were kinda thrown into flux toward the end with Jussi getting traded and Zubov hurt. Plus there just weren't that many.

I'd go with-
1. Richards
2. Zubov
3. Morrow
---
4. Ribeiro
5. Modano
6. Lehtinen

My reasoning is that Richards' speed burst as the 1st shooter could really put the goalie back on his heels, then they get overanxious for Zubov who waits for them to drop.... top shelf. Plus Morrow seems like he buries nearly every breakaway these days and I like the idea of the Captain as the anchor.

I have a hard time not putting Ribeiro in the top 3 simply because he is the only one on our team that loves doing those deke moves.

I don't think it'll be a set order, however, like we're use to.

I like your idea of Richards first and Zubov second. good reasoning. I would, however, probably send Ribeiro, Lehtinen, or Modano before I sent Morrow on the shootout. My list would be as follows.

Richards
Zubov
Ribeiro
-
Lehtinen
Modano
Morrow

I would love to see Loui take one, and you have to love Robidas' slapper shoot out goal in preseason last year!

I hope that Turco absolutely stones Jussi if we get in a shootout with them next season. Althought Mr. Smith at the other end still has yet to allow even I shootout goal. Good thread

Both teams Loui has taken a shoot out goal (if I remember correctly), he's just plain screwed it up.

Since I didn't list my top 6...here's mine. (I do agree, I love that Richards starts)

1) Richards
2) Zubov
3) Ribeiro
4) Morrow (He really has learned how to put away a breakaway. I think we all remember how he use to get 34533453 breakaways and net maybe 1 of them).
5) Modano
6) Lehtinen

If Hagman can start potting some of his chances (if he stays with the team of course) he might also be a good shootout canidate, i'd put him at 7th on the lists people have mentioned though.

However, I think i'd only set the top 2 as static, and for the 3rd put in the hot hand of the night among my last 4. But Richards and Zubov are good starters because of their different styles to totally throw the goalies off.

I'm not a fan of when Modano is in the shootout, I'm not sure at all how Avery is, but it's weird sometimes the players you don't expect to be good at them are.
Like some stay at home defenseman are fairly good at it, at least in practice I've heard on some teams.

Jussi wont be in tampa anymore. I would assume he gets traded to a team like Vancouver who desperately need offensive help.

Neal was 4 for 5 with 3 game winners 2 years ago with plymouth. He was 2 for 5 last year with Iowa with 1 game winner. That's 6 for 10 with 4 game winners over the last 2 years. I could see Neal being in the mix if he makes the team.

I'm pretty sure the goaltenders in the NHL are a bit tougher. Those numbers don't blow me away. He doesn't even sniff the top 6 spots for me.

I'd consider Neal around the sixth spot(but how often do they go that long, not that much), if he's good at them in practice. Rather have him out there then Modano.

True, but in 3-4 seasons of me watching him play he scored because he had moves that'd beat any goalie, not cause the goalies were bad. I agree that the numbers aren't amazing and it's not like I'd put him in the top 3 or anything, but I think he could get a couple chances this year if he is brought up.

Modano has one move that's the thing I don't like about him in the shootout.

Modano had that other move he tried for a while where he'd come in, deke hard to his backhand, then swerve right in front of the net onto his forehand and try to stuff it in next to the near post before the goalie's skate could get over. I think it only worked once or so. Awkward.

The key with using Modano depends on the goalie. If he's short, let Modano go hunting for the top shelf. If he's tall, send out Ribeiro to zig-zag his way in.

The one time it worked, was against Carolina, and their own goalie knocked it in with the butt of his stick.

I've always seen him just skate right in and shoot high glove with a wrist shot the past two years that's the only thing I hate about him in the shootout it's the same thing and it's not like it's a great chance of scoring on it.
At least with someone unknown at least the goalie won't know what to expect.

Is there a rule that prevents Turco from shooting?

In soccer goalies can take penalty kicks for their team.

edit: well, I looked it up.
