1000% agreed

I'd be willing to trade him for Grabovsky straight up to have the rights to sign him before july 1st, Grabovsky will not in the plans anytime soon imo

Wheeler is UFA now... not July 1st... Phoenix already lost his rights..

The date is early for drafted players who aren't signed.

Wheeler would be a great fit in our prospect pool IMO. I really hope that Gainey will try to get him.

With the Habs, he would get the chance to play in a huge hockey city and with a young and skilled core.

Do it Bob!

That's great to see by the poll that alot of fan here like him. I was also suprised to see at close second that many thinks he would not make the team if signed.
To me, I still beleive that he can make an impact.
What can you guys forcast has a possible cinario if signed...I'll go first

He signs for 4 years league max (with bonus)and make the team and plays with Latendress and Koivu What you could called the 3rd line most night.
has a decent season and come playoff...well I want go that far
So for the season.....19goals and 22 assist for 41 pts.

Hes gonna sign a 2 year deal... based on his age that is the standard entry level deal for him.

Don't get me wrong, and I would love to have Pac in our lineup but from what I can seem to understand, He plans on finishing college
So the year after is what I was thinking and thats fine for me. If I was to chose one, well Pac is my man. It's a great deal.

I never heard that before, I have heard there's talk that he is considering turning pro this summer. But if he goes back to Michigan, my guess would be that it will be his last season as I'd be very surprised to see him return for his junior year.

That's not possible for any rookie contract, no rookie can sign for 4 years. Plus I would guess that if the Habs signed him, they would keep him at center but that's nothing but a guess. Also I think it would be very unlikely that he would make the team full time, either at center or wing.

I would not say no though.
Wheeler played on an offensively challenged Minnesota team...Pacioretty played on a high powered Michigan team with Porter and Kolarik as linemates.

Wheeler to the Bruins

http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/...to_sign_1.html

It also mentions that 20 teams were interested and the Canadiens were in his final 4 list.

The Hab's fans will make him regret it when he plays in the Bell Center (in like 3-4 years)

Anyone can just sign people. It takes more skill to be on everyones final lists and not sign people.

I'm amazed he didn't took a pay cut to play beside Sidney Crosby

Don't you worry, we'll be 8-0 (or whatever amount of time we play them) against the Bruins this season again. I'm willing to bet all my vchips or whatever they're called.

Besides, Wheeler sounds like Chad Kilger 2.0 to me.
