That pick is assuming that Wilson and Boedker are off the board, correct?

Thanks for the article! Hodgson may very well be the pick. We really can't go wrong at 9.

I can't see Myers being there at 9, NHL skater, 6'7" and growing and he's over 200 lbs now. He is very skinny, what do you think he will be like when he fills out?

He is a Pronger clone, all Tyler needs is a mean streak.

The only way the Preds will get a chance at Myers is to move up.

If Myers isn't available, then one of Schenn, Wilson, or Bodeker will be available......and I have no problem with any of them.

I think they are going to get a really top notch prospect even without someone going totally off the board in front of them.

How many guys develop a mean streak after being drafted? That's something that you typically have, or don't have, and it that doesn't change through maturity.

I think that Myers is a good pick, I just wouldn't ever expect him to become a "nasty" player like Pronger or Chara.

Agree that NASH is in a great spot at 9.

That's the exact same thing people was saying about Braydon Colburn.

He's yet to develop into a player that uses his size..hence the Chris Pronger comparisons are a little flawed. We already have one huge, soft d-man in the wings in Milwaukee.

6'7 and with good skating and he is still maturing physically....? All 30 teams want this guy. The question is how bad they want him....

Okay. Then I agree that someone who uses his size effectively is a higher priority. But still, Myers is a very talented defenseman, there's no denying that.

I know it's a longshot, but if we're going to draft a defenseman in the first round, I'd like to reach for Colten Teubert at 15, especially if Bailey is gone, and particularly because of these two quotes:

Quote:
"I consider myself a punishing defender," he said. "I'm that guy that you put out against the top players and tell me to shut them down. I think the physical aspect of my game is one of my strengths and I will look to use that to my advantage. I think there are two punishing defensemen in this draft -- myself and (Kelowna's) Luke Schenn. But there are also skilled defenders. I feel in today's game you need physical, fast D-men in your own end and I can bring that."

Quote:
"Either a big hit or getting hit gets me into the game," he said. "I think laying a big hit is better, but if you get hit, you realize, 'Oh, I've got to step up my game, I've got to start playing better and moving my feet.' That's what gets me going."
Sign me up.

Would you trade Suter, Weber, Phanuef, Seabrook, or Carle for him??? Yet he was higher rated than all of them. Myers is not who we need yet it's who Polie is taking

Poile will not take Myers so long as Wilson, Hodgson and Boedker are on the board. Or at least, he'd better not, if he knows what's good for him...

If that were the case, he'd be a slam dunk over guys like Schenn, Bogosian, Pietrangelo, and Doughty...but in fact, there are 4 defensemen that will likely be picked before him. If he was 6'7 and already playing with an edge, it'd be one thing...but I don't think he's showing enough NOW to justify taking yet another defenseman, at least not at 9 when there's likely going to be some pretty high-profile forwards available.

If Filatov or Stamkos is on the board and He has Myers rated higher that's who he'll take. Didn't you read the article in the City paper they practally said that's who they want. I'm hoping Phoneix or Toronto takes him before us, But Poile may trade up to get him.

If Filatov is on the board and Poile drafts Myers he needs to be hanged from the tallest tree.

If Myers goes before us, we get Boedeker/Hodgison/Wilson. If he doesn't, we may have to decide betwen Hodgson and Myers, and I think that decision is extremely tough.

I agree that he doesn't have that edge yet, but his upside is as high as almost anyone in this draft...

Why does everyone want him??? He doesn't sound any better than any other prospect we already have.

Everything I've read is exactally the same thing that was said about Colburn (Who was traded BTW) Atlanta got NOTHING from Colburn. If Myers is traded in 4 years what value did we get from him??? He'll take at least four years to develop which means he will be 22 or 23 years old his rookie years then a UFA at 26 that's only 3 years on the Preds roster. The Forwards will be ready earlier and we need them sooner.

Atlanta got nothing from Coburn because Waddel is an idiot who traded him for an over-the-hill wannabe forward, not because of anything Coburn did or didn't do. He's actually one of Philadelphia's best defensemen.

If you want to compare Myers to Coburn, actually compare their play rather than saying "well, this guy got traded and his team got NOTHING out of him so why would this other guy be any different for us?"

Personally, I think the Coburn comparison is pretty accurate: he's big, he's mobile, doesn't necessarily use his size to the fullest extent but he plays good defense and is reliable in all situations. I don't think he best fits our needs, but I certainly wouldn't complain if we picked him up... again, provided that Wilson, Hodgson and Boedker are all gone.
