Who do you think will make the biggest off-season splash via the draft, free agency and trades?
I think both Columbus and Chicago will be looking to add high end veteran talent to their roster this year. Columbus has been rumored to working out a deal for Marleau and Carle that would send Zherdev and their 1st round pick to SJ. Just recently there has been a rumor of Columbus looking to acquire Ryan Malone's rights. Keep in mind Adam Foote has left a big void in the back end as well and with the likes of Stuart and Rozisval available via free agency; look for Columbus to snatch one of them up. Pavel Kubina is also most likely available and could be a good fit for Columbus.
As for Chicago, I have not heard too many rumors regarding them but they're team with a lot of young talent. I think it would be best if they packaged some of their young talent to bring in some bonafide veterans to take the team to the next level. I think they could deal one of their young defensive men, a top six forward and a pick for Jokinen. Also signing a Rozisval or Stuart would provide Seabrook and Keith and leader in the back end.
Los Angeles is in similar situation to Chicago. They have a lot of young talent, adding some veterans could lead to a playoff berth.
Well expect us here in Toronto to have a really expensive lawn sale...
Although I don't think you can consider selling, or draft pick collecting "the biggest moves"... Toronto will be making (or, should be making) "the MOST moves".
I don't think you can write of Vancouver this offseason as a team that makes some big moves.... new GM, constantly talked about making big changes, has talked about the 2-yr window with Luongo he wants to win in... discussions about possibly moving the 1st round pick for immediate help, and a team that has tons of cap space this offseason, in a market that should play near the salary cap again.
Cant wait for the Hawks to become a force and I think within a few years they will grab a cup, they just need a couple of cogs and some continued great drafting, I think they have learned from the bad signing from a few years a ago and have been learned from he ABC fiasco, by really drafting guys with a thing called HEART!
I also agree with those that have said the Kings, I think they really have a great core of young guys and have improved litlle by little with trades and signings, liek the hawks ina couple of years they too can be a force!
I guess its the rock-bottom theory here, these teams are ready to commit to excellence and finally have strong management to build these teams. As a fan of hokey im looking foward to see these teams really come into their own....but IMO i dont think the jackets, nashville and thrashers will get their soon I think it will be a while till they find their stride on all fronts to make a team successful. I would also love to see the Blues turn the ship around.
