For some reason I have a feeling that we will be moving down rather then up... Perhaps our 1st and 4th for two 2nd rounder ...

Then we could go for Jokinen, Hayes and Paquette in the second round.

Why wouldnt they??? I am glad you asked...........Its simple........Bob aint trading away NHL prospects he has for lottery picks.........and if you want to move up in this years draft well we would have to sacrafice some components of our future........and I can tell you that aint in Bobs plans at all.

Thanks for quoting every single hockey analyst the last three years. Did you just listen to "Bob McKenzie's Most Overused Phrases" CD?

He'd be sacrificing some future for some future. Now, that doesn't mean you trade your absolute best assets. (Mcdonaugh, Pacioretty, Valentenko), but there are others you could sacrifice to get a top notch pick which would probably get you a top notch player. You just don't know who will turn out to be legit players in the league, but I'd bet the farm on Filatov over Subban that's for sure.

Paquette, I just have a really good feeling about this player, mayby the next Chris Neil???

I'd wait to next year, much better draft from the early looks of it imo.

Filatov would have made a great Canadien:

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article...ikita_filatov/

The young Russian also has a basis in French having learned the language for 5-6 years. "I'm not good at it, I haven't used it for about three years now," he said with humility.

I'd love to get Filatov IF we could get him for our 1st, our 2009 1st pus the Huet pick AND he agreed to come over next year to play junior or the AHL...but I don't see anybody in the top 5-6 agreeing to that.

From our good friend Peter McGuire http://habsinsideout.com/main/8509

Quote:
HIO: If you're running the Canadiens draft, what's your thinking?

PM: I would try to trade up into the top 12. I don't think top five. Realistically, they don't have enough assets to do that yet. But to get to 12 would be great. If I could get to 15 it would be awesome. At 25 you're going to get a player but it's going to be a project player, not someone who's reeady to play tomorrow or the year after that. You're looking at a developmental process. With a college player, he's at least two years in college and one year in the American league. If it's a junior player, he's at least two years in junior and at least a year in the AHL, maybe more.
And who would we pick?

lol, after reading his interview on rds.ca, it sounds like Timmins really doesn't like this draft at all! I hope they do something to get the most out of it! Trade some picks for next year or trade a lot of our own picks to get a better player.

Seriously i dont see Plek getting traded, our two first line centers are not for trade for anything less than another top 2 center that is gonna be here for a couple of years. Koivu is very valuable for the Habs as our captn, his leadership and his energy, we wont get anything close to him in a trade.

Bob McKenzie's 25th ranked prospect - C Nicolas Deschamps.

Maybe we won't have to trade up at all.

I think it's because he wants some elite talent to put us over the top.We already have plenty of good players but nothing elite and except for the top picks this draft only has a bunch of good players.

I ain't telling you what's gonna happen, I'm just telling you what I'd like to see, and stop saying it's not gonna happen like you were the one calling the shots. And of course you would have to give quite a bit to get a top 5, thats why you go for #8,9 or 10.

I think if Pleks does get traded, it'll be for an NHL player. McGuire just said on Team990 that the rumblings are Montreal is trying to aquire Gaborik from Minnesota. You'd need to throw in a few more players though.

Yeah we all know Bob works alone. He even works out trades alone....then when the deal is done he calls the other GM and announces the deal to him. And possible recommendations about the draft from his scouting staff?....pffft. Impossible.

Is any team looking to move up at some point and then when they see the price is too high, then they decide to stay put or move down? Would any responsible management call TBay to ask if their #1 is up for sale? I believe they should so let's title this "All 30 teams want to move up"......

Don't remember that it was that big of a story last year and clearly with the features we had at the NHL Network, Gainey kept asking different GM's to move up.....So it looks the same this year....

I see Pleks for Gaborik as a lateral move

Downgrade.

We'd be left with Koivu.. Chipchura.. Lapierre.. and what, Begin? At center.
