Goaltender is this team's biggest need

Biron has been flat out garbage this season.

- He's the worst puck handling goaltender I've ever seen, bar none.
- His lateral movement is abysmal
- His rebound control is awful

He had a great 2nd round of the playoffs against Montreal and a solid 1st round against Washington, but let's not let that distract us from the fact that he's a below average starting goaltender AT BEST.

I honestly believe this team is 8 points better right now with average goaltending and we're only 25 games into the season. I've seen enough of the guy, we aren't winning jack **** with him, it's time for him to go.

28th in GAA and 31st in SVP is where he stands right now and that's about where he belongs in terms of starting goaltenders in this league.

Hes fine....he just needs to stay in the net. I think this is a focus issue and a lack of attention to detail.

You know, I thought his meltdown of the beginning of this season was just some bad conditioning or something and he really played very well over the winning stretch, but in the three most recent games he played like complete crap and caused at least 3 goals on his own.

He has been very disappointing recently and I am really not sure what to do about him :/

I dont remember him being this bad with the puck last year.

He just lauches it so slowly around the boards. At least shoot it hard enough to get offside

#1) Fine doesn't cut it unless you have the Wings skaters.

#2) He's not fine. He gives up back breaking goals. He's near the bottom of the league in GAA and SVP, he was inconsistent all of last season, he's just not a good goaltender.

We have a very solid group of skaters, but we can't overcome subpar goaltending and Biron doesn't give the team much better then that.

Holmgren needs to upgrade the position, bad.

He played like this from about November-March of last season. He had a great first month and a great 1st two rounds of the playoffs and was flat out bad in between. Do people forget how he gave up back breaking goal after back breaking goal down the stretch last season?

What's his contract situation? If he's available, you have to go get him and find a way to make it work.

I thought he was adequate last season.

Not happy with his play this season, for sure

don't be so quick to throw him under the bus. I think its a confidence issue. You can tell instead of reacting he is thinking to much. He'll be back in form. The team didn't bury their chances when they had them. The fact is, there is no one better out there right now. Best thing to do is just keep with him. We all saw what he COULD do.

Biron is probably one of the most frustrating players on this team. I don't think he's capable of carrying the load as a number 1 goalie for us anymore.

I also love how Knuble was the one who made the horrible turnover which turned into the assist to Elias for the game winner. He is so worthless it hurts.

Momentary lapses in judgment and I think he needs to follow the puck a bit more. I think he loses it too easily or doesn't focus on it. Many times he thinks he has the puck when he doesn't or he doesn't follow where it goes. Once he gets back into the mentality he can play, he'll play just fine. Can't put in Nitty unless you want to destroy what confidence Biron has left, but even then both of their numbers aren't that great. Ride him out, he'll either snap out of it or he'll prove a lot of people right who said he can't be a #1 goalie.

I'm not happy with Biron's play, but he is often left hung out to dry.

Just for hypothetically speaking as I asked this question early in the season:
Any chance to bundle up Marty and something else and trade with Chicago for Khabibulin and something else?

Exactly what I was thinking to myself watching the game today. I tried to think about it and can't recall him being this inept handling the puck. He's a rattled high school backup trying to handle the puck this year.

knuble took his sweet ass time getting to the puck, for sure. but carter needs to be in the zone. knuble got beat! no reason for him to be near the redline. defensive side of the puck, then go from there. it's not all on knuble.

This particular game was all Biron, he was also the reason why Flyers went to OT against Tampa. He stinks in back to back games and SOs.

Why single out one guy and blame him? Here are problems:

This team is undisciplined, no work ethic (with few exceptions) as a result 5 on 5 looks real ugly, glove throwing, idiotic plays by pretty much every single player, every other game, lack of concentration, not physical. Just sloppy.

Devils were very injured but did not make a signle god damn trade! Homer made two and **** still does not work like it suppose to.

On top of that medical staff rushing players back in Vaananen and Briere are excellent examples

I have no idea what Keith Jones is talking about when he says “Flyers system” What system?

I agree Biron stinks this season.

Vokoun's cap hit is 5.7 for 2 more seasons after this one. A bit steep but I think he is just sick of playing on Florida with no help.

Of course it's not all on him, but he pulls this lazy **** all the time. I can't stand it and all they do is give him praise. But this thread is about Biron sucking and I'd like to stay on topic.
