In a similar vein old apparently sexy crooner(so I'm told) Rod Stewart was on PBS the other night. I forgot how much people in the 70's couldn't dance or even sway to the beat but the lasses in the crowd reminded me.
So being completely bored with writing reports I've lived dangerously and listened to a few Winehouse songs. Even watched a couple videos.
On Blacker than black(or whatever) I kept waiting for her to melodramatically jump in. But apparently(and I can't surmise the fine line here) that would be TOO melodramatic and the rest of the funereal, black hearse, sombre procession, tombstones, bleeding roses and 15 other throwaway tear jerk gimmicks aren't. All perhaps designed to sledgehammer-foreshadow Amys mythos fate for the nuance challenged. They missed the little girl in the backdrop with the "Amy is dead" sign though. No due dilligence these folks and they neglected to borrow EVERY blatant device.
Or maybe its instead all deeplike and existential.
Black and Rehab seem scripted and autobiographical to a tee.
Then apparently everybody goes "Wow life imitating art"
This stuff is so vacant and beyond contrived I'd need a huge prescription of oxycontin to listen to more of it.
Any recommendations from the fans?
