Naslund on his way out of Vancouver "Money not the important part"

Naslund has said some very interesting quotes to swedish media that I thought I would translate. It sounds like he is gone from Canucks for sure.

Swedish hockeyreporter then speculates that he could go back to pittsburgh.

How about a trade, Hossa's rights for Naslund's rights?

Seriously though, if Naslund's not in Vancouver next year, I hope he goes somewhere like Pittsburgh where he'll be playing with offensive talent that can get him kickstarted again.

Maybe he'll take a bag of pucks from the Pens.

I haven't followed Naslund much for a few years. I know he was an absolute force a few years back, but what is his deal now. Is he finished? Is he bored, does he need a change of scenery?

He doesn't like defensive systems, he needs a free flowing offense. I think the Kings or Preds would be a good fit for him.

uhh...did you see what the Caps young talent did to Fedorov's boredom and interest?

I would love to fit him into the Caps line-up playing with either Nylander-Semin or Backstrom-Ovechkin, but there is so many bodies and so many new contracts to sign in Washington that I don't think it is even possible.

Different fans are of different opinions. Personally, since the Steve Moore hit he hasn't been the same player, but I think he still has the talent to be a 30 goal/80 point player. The Sedins were the only true offensive players the Canucks really had last season with Morrison hurt most of the year, and Naslund was nearly a PPG playing with them despite not really matching their style, but once they were split up Naslund slowed down. I don't really blame him, playing with the likes of Ryan Shannon, Taylor Pyatt, Kris Beech, etc., but he's not going to carry a line any more. But playing with someone like a Crosby or a Zetterberg in Detroit I think the talent is still there to be a PPG player.

I think he would be a decent fit here in Nashville. Kariya thrived, and Naslund would be in a similar position IMO.

He will be signing with Ottawa to play with Sundin and Alfredsson next year.

I had that thought when I saw this thread. I could see the Preds offering him 5 million per for the next 2 years.

He would be a good fit with Crosby Hossa or Malkin Sykora, but he would have to take a Sykora-style 2-year deal for the Pens to take him in. Its not very likely, unless he really wants to be here.

He would get to start the season playing in his home country of Sweden. For whatever its worth.. might mean something

I would not mind seeing him with the Penguins but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Red Wings with all their Swedish talent and ability. I could definitely see Naslund fitting into the puck possession system them employ.

Burke loves ex-Canucks.

Naslund will re-unite with Big Bert next season. And possibly with Morrison as well.

Yuuuuuuck!

It's no secret that Naslund likes offensive style of hockey, and that he wants to go to a cup contender. Out of my head, these are the hockey places that fits him:

pittsburgh
Capitals
Detroit
Nashville
Colorado

Should be interesting to see

much more plausible than Sundin signing in Ottawa!

I don't think you'll see that ever happen... much like Forsberg when he left Colorado, he was clear that he wouldn't sign with a rival team of Colorado's because of his longterm affiliation with the team.

Do you really expect Sundin, who's made it clear he wears the mapleleaf on his heart, to sign with Ottawa, or Boston, or any of the Leafs chief rivals? Maybe it's the Swede in these guys, but IMO these players have too much respect to sign in such places.

Having said that, I could definitely see both of them signing in Detroit... Swede friendly environment, Detroit is no longer a rival at all of the canucks, and a different conference for Sundin... and by all accounts a highly respected organization overall.

I'd be willing to bet though that you don't see Sundin signing in the NE division, nor Naslund signing in the NW division with any other team but their current ones.
