Marty Havlat

Not sure if this is posted anywhere else but...

What are the chances Martin Havlat is traded out of Chicago? They nearly made the playoffs last year, have some more young guys coming in (Skille, Barker) and will probably be in search of a few veterans to anchor their blueline and 3rd and 4th lines.

GIven his history of injuries he can probably be had for cheap. Also, if i remember his contract although bad expires in a year (6 mill). Plus, if healthy, Havlat could be EXACTLY the type of player to fit in nicely on Gomez's wing. Discounting his first two seasons he's a point per game guy. He's quick, and plays two ways. Plus, if he can stay healthy, he's a young guy that could be around for a bunch of years providing gomez some consistency. Apparently he had surgery back in March and should be fully healthy come camp (Chicago Tribune).

Anyway... 2nd and prospect (someone a couple years away - Zaborsky, bourret...) for havlat and a 4th? - might even be able to get him for less as compensation for his salary (like devils unloading malakhov)

Frees up some money for Chicago to bring in a vet d-man (maybe rozi) and fills a major need for us for less than what Hossa or comparables would cost.

agree! shame really. He would be fantastic as a Ranger but you will be lucky to get 40 games out of him.

Sather wont dish assets for Havlat. Too risky. He may take a shot at him as a UFA if his price drops. One of the most talented players in the league , when he plays

It all depends on the price for the injury prone winger. He is an excellent talent but I can not see Sather giving to much for him. Whats his contract look like?

get him, it wouldnt cost much, we need wingers, and even though he is injury prone you cant expect him to get a major injury every single year. if he stays healthy, this could be like the jagr-carter trade. buy an underperforming superstar very very cheap, and he becomes the face of your franchise

i am a huge Havlat fan. but i'd pass. even if he holds up in the regular season (he won't) he will get killed in the playoffs. teams will target him and he will get KO'd. He missed almost the entire season and came back to be one of OTT best playoff scorers, then got hurt.

when he plays he is glorious to watch though.

it would take something besides bourret just because CHI is loaded with young RW depth.

i'd only risk it if jagr does not come back.

The guy is incredible.............just needs to stay healthy

I think he stays given the injuries but that is not a bad thing for Chicago because if healthy he will make Kane and Toews even better..............

Blackhawks are this yrs Caps

I'd love him, too bad he's made out of glass and his salary is so high. I wouldn't give up any more than a 3rd and a UFA to be's rights for him.
