Thanks Dallas, thank you so much!! I had nightmares about Corson coming back to MTL. I will sleep better now. Sorry for the nostalgics, we can still make a pitch for Kirk Muller to make you feel good. :p

That is good news, although I had a difficult time imagining Gainey pursuing Corson. In his article in today's Gazette Pat Hickey addressed this and suggested it was Corson pursuing the Habs as opposed to the Habs considering signing him.

In all honesty, I really doubt Bob Gainey had any thoughts of signing Corson. That would of created more problems then it would of solved.

I don't really see why. His objective is probably to help the team so the team overall is better. Therefore if they are better, they'll make the playoff since they are already in. Plus there probably wasn't that many option out there. I don't think he answered his phone many times and found out it was a GM calling him. It probably happende once and he decided he'd sign with that team.

Their playoff spot is all but secure , heck the Habs are in a better position right now . Corson won't anything but 4th line ice time .. maybe some PK or 3rd line if he's doing GREAT . And he'll have to face the Avs or the Wings in 1st round .

Ottawa , New Jersey , Detroit and Colorado were all better options for him .

I don't see these teams approaching a guy like Corson (now don't get me wrong and think I am someone who thinks he knows everything), but I really don't see any of these teams approaching him.

EDIT: Look what i've just found on RDS : http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/...V40326BD4.html

"Avec tout le respect que l'on doit aux autres formations qui se sont montrées intéressées, cette offre représente la meilleure chance pour mon client d'accéder aux grands honneurs", a précisé Curran

It pretty much says that Dallas was the best team he could sign with in order to have a chance at the cup. HAhahaha poor guy (actually no, he just signed a NHL contract)

Rumor about Corson - Detroit . They says the source isn't really good but when you look at the depth chart the Wings were a logical choice for Corson . Anyways , Corson is a Dallas Star now
