I hope he does. This is exactly the kind of deal that benefits both clubs, as we get the scoring we desperately need in a bona-fide star in Gagne and a good secondary scorer in Lupul, and Philly gets the solid 2nd pairing defenseman and one of the best goalie prospects in the league.

All these guys with concussion problems really get to me. Once you get one, the propensity for getting another increases and it seems its just a pitfall. Its a shame, but it happens to all kinds of players.

Guys like Gagne, Connolly, Stoll, etc, may have tons of talent in them, but if they only play 40 games a season and you cant be sure theyre gonna be in your lineup when the chips are down, whats the point in them sitting on the bench making millions?

And if they do get in the lineup, once it appears theyre getting their game back, someone on some team will be sure to remind them of what a concussion feels like. It is, in fact, a business. And any weakness, no matter how serious it is, is fair game.

A guy like this on my roster would only frustrate the hell out of me...

anytime I see rumor on a thread I know Eklund's name is coming if the first post. Why does anyone even post this guys stuff. What is he's accuracy rating on these rumors. I'd say it's got to be under 1% of time.

Yeah, I think I'd dole out Ottawa's 18th+ (I realize it's not top 15) on that gamble too...

With his injury issues, especially since it is concussions, I do not think he is even worth a top 15 pick.

Simon is healthy and skating again. When he's healthy, he's one of the 3 best and most important players on the team. He's coming off a concussion riddled season so that will obviously hamper his value significantly in a trade as well.

It would shock me to see Gagne dealt because I think the Flyers would only deal him for a great return and I don't think anyone will offer a great return for Gagne, as good as he is, after what he went through last season.

3 way trade maybe

Rangers get Klesla
Jackets get Gagne (played for hitch) and 20th overall
Flyers get 6th overall, Petr Prucha and Fedor Tyutin

Gagne is not being traded. He has NTC and is a big member of this team. Let alone his concussions.

Umberger is the one on the block.

Hmmmmmm...if Gagne could stay healthy, this trade would make sense for a team looking to improve now. From Philly's perspective, I could understand why they would make this trade. They need to sign Carter, and they already have a lot of other players under big contracts. Freeing up his contract would be beneficial to Philly. Gagne is still young, being that he has 28, and when healthy, has been a very solid player.

RCallahan, in that deal, the Jackets get bent over the table. We'd lose the #6, a top four defenseman, and two good prospects. Because the pick alone has more value, there would have to be something additional coming to Columbus.

I love Gagne, but he's not worth the 6th overall (Schenn) plus Tyutin, plus Prucha. Not even close.

If gags gets traded it better be for a top 5 or else the flyers got fleeced. It just doesn't make sense for either team. Gagne is a great player when healthy and flyers need him if they want to be a cup contender. Other teams will be bit aprehensive before going after him.

So Rangers trade Tyutin and a pick plus useless unwanted Prucha for a solid Klesla? Nice try.

Whet most people are overlooking with this rumor is that Gags is a 40+ (possibly 50+) goal scorer who is incredible defensively and is a great leader on top of all that. The flyers are a team that is expects to be a serious cup contender next year and trading gags for a draft pick would set them back a few years

IMO, If Boston knew Simone Gagne was 100% recovered and not going to have an Eric Lindros type future, they'd be willing to trade their #16 pick for him. But with Gagne, there is a HUGE Question mark.

big risk - didn't he have some severe concussions? if he comes back to form, though, could be a heck of a steal

I wouldn't send them both. We need to keep a sniper. Lupul OR Gagne, not both.
