Reading between the lines, I think Burke and Howson have a game plan in mind.

I read Burke wants to move up to #6 (to grab Filatov? Boedker?), but if he can't, he trades down to #15.
Either way, he does not seem interested to pick at #12.

He talked with several GMs and knows who they will draft.
He's convinced Doughty and Bogosian won't be there at #12.

I guess these are the players mentioned by GMs he's talked too.

Burke should have quite the busy day drafting for both Anaheim and Toronto.

Moving up to 6th will cost him.

I suspect it will be Schneider + 12th + maybe a 2nd also. This is assuming Mr. Indecisive returns.

He has those assets...could happen. I've always thought he would use the Oiler's pick to move up.

I don't know if Columbus will want Schneider. Too old and UFA next year, but who knows...

I wonder what player is Howson eyeing? Has got to be Filatov...

Columbus needs to replace Foote and Schneider just might work for a one year push.

I am sure the Blue Jackets want a good 1st line center in any package involving their pick. Does Anaheim have one of those they could spare? I would say the answer is no. Someone like SJ or Florida make much better trading partners for Columbus IMO.

Do you think Marleau might work?

#6 for Perry, because he's going to as for $5M+/yr and Burke won't give it to him

Or Philly even. With Carter's signing, I won't be surprised if Philly's shopping Briere whose signing was necessary last year, but whose contract looks heavy now and will turn ino a complete disaster down the road.

I honestly think Burke will do all he can to sign Perry, even if that means 5M.

Classic Burke working the media. A little bluster here, a little BS there sandwiched in between a fair amount of arrogance. If there is one GM out there that hasn't talked to every other team in the league in the last two weeks that GM should be fired.

I guess Nonis wanted to be hired to help pay for all those long distance calls to Anaheim and Toronto.

You're getting very curmudgeonly in your old age.

Yes that one makes an awful lot of sense to me. SJ seems to like to collect picks and move up when they can in the past too.

I think they want a center so probably not. If they are going to give up one of their biggest bargaining chips I am sure they want to fill their biggest hole in the process.

First Burke, then Bertuzzi, now Nonis. Now if only they could bring back Naslund, Morrison, and Cloutier, the family would finally be reunited ...

Brian likes to keep Dave around so they can hit the gym together after work.
