HFNYR Protocol for Draft weekend - READ READ READ!

Today and tomorrow will be some crazy days on the boards here. Lots of activity, so we usually set forth a few guidelines in an effort to keep things organized.

At some point today, I'll set up:
  • A thread dedicated to the Rangers 1st round selection
  • A thread to discuss non-Ranger selections
  • POSSIBLY a thread to discuss non-Ranger trades (might wait to see if there are any first)

We ask that you allow only moderators open dedicated NYR selection threads. In previous years, (50) people have tried to start new threads, all on the same topic, as soon as the selection is made. Not only is it a disaster for us to clean up, but it only adds to the server loads that will inevitably slow things down this evening. I'll try to get it set up before 7PM so that we can prognosticate while players come off the board.

We'll get selection thread for rounds 2 and 3 set up tonight for discussion and prognostication. Threads for rounds 5 and up, barring any trades, will be put up in the morning.

Finally, please make sure your topics are "threadworthy". There will be too much traffic this weekend to burn up bandwidth with OT discussions. If it's a valid topic, please double check that it's not a duplicate. If there's an open discussion on the first page, use it.

I'll leave this thread open for comments or suggestions.

Sounds like a good strategy to me. Good luck holding down the fort though.

Sounds like someone's planning on stirring up some trouble.

Haha, no not me. Unless I scrounge up a wireless router on my way home from work I won't be on the board once I leave the office.

In previous years it's almost always been me making the threads. You take my joy away, Melrose. You take my joy. Everything I love is dead.

Hell, be my guest Rx. As long as there's only (1) selection thread, doesn't matter to me who opens it. Just figured you might be too caught up in mocking NJD selections over on their board.

Hahahahaha!!!

In past years when they had some good guys who liked to go into the trenches and ********, that would've been the ideal. But man, the new crowd over there is terrible. I hardly venture over there even to read anymore. A lot of the good Devils posters don't even post anymore, I believe.

Jon will post the threads if I am not on yet, or away when we draft a player...so please don't start 50 threads and let me or him do it.

Protocol for today and tomorrow is going to be pretty much the same as last year, so I'm just bumping this thread, editing info as needed.

But how will we get mad hfboards cred if we can't be the first to open a new thread with every draft pick? You mods around here are just too power hungry and it's like Nazi Germany!

I already had 20 pre-made posts ready to go with the name of 20 different players the Rangers could have picked in the first round. Now what am I going to do with them?!

So I guess opening a different thread for every player ranked by CSB is out of the question?

I might not be around for all of tomorrow, so I'll set everything up tomorrow morning or tonight and you guys can edit as needed.

why dont you open up the thread early so there are no mistakes made..

make the topic like.

With the first pick the Rangers select...

and then fill in the blank when it actually happens.

That is the plan. It will be up in advance of the beginning of the draft.

Good idea - I was going to suggest the same thing.

Another thought - how about a single rumors thread for all the scuttlebutt all our favorite journalists are reporting? Right now it's a pain in the you know what trying to surf through the Redden, Heatley and other threads to see if there's any actual new NEWS on what the GMs are discussing.

I like that. Let 'er rip if you've got a link in mind to kick it off BRF.

Don't worry Levitate. WE know when Sather steps up to that podium, you already know what he's going to say.

Got one (doesn't involve the Rangers, but I figure we want them all in one place anyway, right?) and it's up.
