6,3 M$ a year when you'll have to resign next year Koivu, Higgins, Pleky, Komi, Latendresse, maybe Kovalev or Bouillon ?

I hope it's not for Sundin because we could potentially sign him without giving up anything

Imagine, we sign Sundin and trade for another top flight player?

Gainey DID say we need 2 players: a UFA, and a Trade

They traded their 1st for the rights to the Chinese Democracy album from Guns n' Roses.

Sundin will decide if he wants to play, then sign, not the other way around. If he chooses not to play, no one gets him. If he signs with the Habs or anyone else, it's because he's decided to play. Nothing to lose here.

Yes they traded their first round pick to LA for the Kings 2nd round pick and 3rd round pick.

They had permission to talk to Sundin, who was undecided about his future and nothing happened.

Good night everybody.

He is not conservative. Man can be very balsy.
I'd say it was a calculated risk

Anyway, Gainey isn't the best "bargainer" around and would personally prefer if we drafted a young prospect. But it's my personal preference, doesn't have to be Gainey's or your's.

You don't know anything about Gainey's bargaining skills. If anything he probably operates perfectly within what the market is demanding for the given point in time

Edit: I hate when I read a forum thread that derails. So I'll stop the quoting here.

Guys, when Timmins said the draft wouldn't be great, wasn't he PRing us exactly the trading of the pick ? Or just warning us that he might draft someone no one is expecting ?

Kovalev for Balej wasn't a perfect trade?

Sundin Bound

We have negoitating rights with Sundin now.

This could be good if we sign him

per TSN:http://www.tsn.ca/

Come on guys, if it's true that we gave up our first for Sundin and got him signed to a 1 or 2 year deal, how can you not be happy with that? It's not like we're talking about a top 10 pick. #25 for Mats frickin Sundin. Who cares that he'd have been a UFA July 1st. This ensures that we get him.

Woooo hooooo. 2 hours till draft time. Can't wait to see what happens.

Maybe that's why Timmins was talking down the quality of the draft.

We tried making a hockey wall of shame at school but it ended up only having a Pat Falloon Pro Set card

I almost added Trevor Kidd but never remembered to.

I love how this thread didn't even exist when i left work 45 minutes ago and now i come here and see this

That said :

Something is clearly going on. Hopefully it's Jokinen and not Marleau but i still wouldn't be pissed if it was Marleau at that price.
