I know...but from what I understand, Sundin is unsure about his playing future.
Meaning, he doesn't know where he wants to play and if he wants to play.
Not sure I want a player who is not sure whether or not he even wants to play in the NHL in the coming year.
Sundin will decide if he wants to play, then sign, not the other way around. If he chooses not to play, no one gets him. If he signs with the Habs or anyone else, it's because he's decided to play. Nothing to lose here.
Come on guys, if it's true that we gave up our first for Sundin and got him signed to a 1 or 2 year deal, how can you not be happy with that? It's not like we're talking about a top 10 pick. #25 for Mats frickin Sundin. Who cares that he'd have been a UFA July 1st. This ensures that we get him.
