Jason Spezza

Why all the rumour about him being moved? Why oh why would Ottawa do such a thing?

okay good. just checking. it's like if Eklund was walking around telling the entire league Ales Hemsky was available for no apparent reason... it makes no sense

Because he's softer then warm butter and he hasn't won jack in his life.

Edit: He's also the antithesis of a leader.

lol. i heard he was a power-forward. he's a canadian boy. they're all powerforwards.
i remember when anson carter was traded to edmonton. sportsnet and tsn were like, "the edmonton oilers have acquired powerforward anson carter in exchange for american bill guerin"

haha

Oh good - now Eklund is reporting an E3 that Spezza is coming here. This doesn't make any sense, other than the fact that the Sens will need a goalie and I'm sure they wouldn't mind Rollie. Who would we be giving up? Horc?

The comment makes sense if you're just trying to get people to visit your Web site.

Fair point. I'm just curious what people think we'd be giving up to get a guy like Spezza. I'm not a huge fan but when he's on his game he's a force. I could see him playing with Hemsky and Penner.

The only way I see this deal working is if Ottawa is clearing room for Jokinen or Marleau. So it would probably a salary dump for Ottawa. Spezza and 1st. for Pitkanen,Stoll,Torres,1st. Ottawa gets 3 players for approx the same money as Spezza. Ok it'll cost them a couple mil more but gives them depth, grit, toughness, and a cheaper puck moving defenceman to replace Redden.

That's just how the rumour mongers work: the bigger the lie the more people will believe it. Or something like that. I stole that from a TV show or movie...forget which. Maybe the X-Files? Blarg.

Hilter, unfortunately.

Note: this does not invoke Godwin's Law. Carry on.

Ah, okay. It was the show that stole it from Hitler, then.

Anyway, now Ek is spouting something about a 'very attractive package' that the Oilers are offering for Spezza, which includes either Cogs or Gags...

Spezza is basically the "Brad Richards" of the Sens big three. He will forever be mentioned in the rumor mill.
