Brian Campbell can talk to EC teams.

According to Bob McKenize, San Jose have giving the rights to talk to a few Eastern Conference teams. But no teams were mentioned. There isn't a link yet but Bob discussed this on the NHL Network Draft Telecast.

Yup, I can back this up as I heard it too. McKenzie did say this on air during the NHL Networks telecast.

overvalued, overrated, is not good at his job, defense.

he will probably get 7M too, which is laughable. He doesn't even strike me as a good powerplay quarterback. Buffalo made a good move in not resigning him I think.

EC teams, I'm guessing Buffalo, Toronto, and the Flyers are the teams that they gave permission to. Closest in the East.

Uhhh...maybe because San Jose would prefer he go to the East. He doesn't choose who San Jose says he can talk to.

I bet the Rangers are looking at him considering we have no one worth a damn offensively on the blue line. I wouldn't be opposed to him depending on price. Staal-Campbell would be nice.

He could sign in Detroit, just 2 hours from home, but they have no use for him

That would be a crazy defense

Rafalski-Lidstrom
Campbell-Stuart
Chelios-Lebda

It would be an even better D if you knew the pairings

Rafalski - Lidstrom
Campbell - Kronwall
Chelios - Stuart

We have another Dman too, you know. The one that led all Dmen in scoring this playoffs...

When did he ever say this on the record? The reasons for him conducting negotiations solely with Eastern Conference teams are twofold: he would prefer to stay close to his family and Doug Wilson would like to get him out of the West if he doesn't sign with the Sharks and therefore would only encourage Eastern teams to discuss contract offers with him.

Mackenzie already said he only wanted to sign in the East.

Just a way of saying to WC teams that either you trade for Marleau to help us clear space or you're not getting Campbell at all either way.

If that happens, it would likely spell the end of the board as we know it.

Well, Buffalo could have had him for 5 years at 5M/yr. Think of the assets they could have gotten for him at that price for that long.
