Ellis Re-signs with Nashville

Multi-year deal, no terms announced.

You hoped this was the next announcement after the Mason deal...next Weber!

I'm happy to see this deal get done. I hope we're not simply repeating last year's error with Mason, but something tells me that if we let Ellis get away it would eventually come back to haunt us.

Hoping the terms eventually are released as 2 years/$5.5 million or 3 years/$7 mil max. Rinne is the real deal and I want a deal that does not block him as he grows and also gives both the team and Ellis flexibility later in the deal if needed.

Surely Ellis will not fall off worse than Mason did last year, and he surely wont make 3 million, this is win-win.

Here we go again. 2 years in a row we have traded our recently extended goaltender for draft picks to resign the years upstart goalie that stole the show.....

I think this one will work out better than last year . I'm glad this situation has been solved.

My final wish is that this contract isn't as high as Mason's, but it probably will exceed the 2 year/6 million dollar extension.

Great deal for the Preds. Opens the door for Rinne and saves us a handsome chunk of change. Sad to see Mase go, but this is a business. And he wasn't performing relative to his contract. St. Louis is no Nashville, but it's a great town; he'll make great money in a good environment for his family. Couldn't be happier for him and for us.

Really sets up well for a transition to Rinne as well.

Getting an equal or maybe better than goalie than you previously had for 1.25 million less is always a good thing. Great asset management by Poile on this one.

Poile sure is good at BS. At the Suter signing he was saying how he was so not optimistic that Ellis would be back and he would be testing the market.

Happy to have Ellis back (at a fantastic price) but sad to see Mason go, especially to the blues. I think Mason will bounce back and have a good season. Good luck Mase, just not enough to pass Nashville or beat us.

It's good to have all this worked out now and go into camp and the season with our goalie team set. Good luck to Ellis/Rinne this year! Wow, this will be the first year we don't have a goalie that has been here since the beginning (Mason played 3 games here in '98).
