Absolutely, the Canucks need this game in the worst way. They have lost a couple of bad games recently and beating the Avs could jolt the team. They also don't want to fall 8 points behind the Avalanche if they are serious about winning the division.

Exactly Footer, considering the Avs will have two games in hand after tonight's game. Vancouver will throw everything but the kitchen sink at the Avs tonight. I expect their best effort tonight. The Avs need to be sharp and ready. Most importantly, Aebischer will have to come up big!

For the 2nd game in a row, it's going feel like a playoff game. It's starting to get good!

I am hoping Selanne looks as spry as he did last game, he appeared to be a lot faster for whatever reason. I think he and Kariya are still due some hot streaks - I think we kind of forget what they are capable of.

One hope I have for tonight is for the officiating not to play a huge part in the game. It seems like the last few games have had a lot of inconsistent and annoying officiating, even more than usual. I know it's not an easy job, but I can't imagine that they couldn't do it better.

Those of you looking for a good hard fought game will be dissapointed. The Canucks have been as flat as I have seen them in the past 3 years on their homestand, and that is likely not going to change. Jovanovski is missed and we have no one to replace what he does. Cloutier will hold the Canucks in, but make no mistake this will be a rout for the Avs.

i'm gonna say 3-2 for the Avs, with a lot of end to end action, thanks mostly to Sopel and Skoula.

I think Vancouver will be plenty up for the game, and I do expect it to be a hard fought game. The Avs have been beating just about everybody, but it hasn't been by playing 60 great minutes of hockey. Last game against Detroit was a huge step in that direction, but with Blake and Niko out, special teams are a big deal right now, and I am not convinced we come out and play another hot 60 minutes. If we do, then you could see a rout.

I wish we could hear something about Hinote, good or bad.

Well, I knew that , I just would like to hear any guess at all from those who know. I guess with concussions they never do know. Even knowing if his season is in jeopardy would be something.

Colorado, do us a favour.

Blow the hell out of the Canucks this game, I'm talking 15 - 1 by the second.

Embarass this team so badly so that Burke has no choice but to plug the holes on this team.

I thought the Avs played also 60 minutes of hockey at St Louis, make that 2 games in a row, that's a sign this team comes together, as they probably didn't do that for the entire season. Of course, that was on the road, it will be interresting to see if they can continue this good streak at home.

Man, Canucks fans sure are down...but with one single win tonight, who wants to bet all those Chicken Littles would suddenly disappear?

I think the Canucks will be up for this game in a huge way even if their fans expect the worst. The Avs are going to have to weather a storm in the first period imo.

I think most of us dont have blind faith in our team when we realize it's going nowhere with the current roster.

The Canucks could easily use this as a stepping stone to get out of their current rut. Inversely, the Avs can't be too overconfident after beating the Wings. I'd like to say I like the Avs in this "high scoring affair" to be. But honestly, I see a 1-1 or a 2-1 game tonight.

Derek Morris is my pivot player tonight. He MUST have a big two-way game today. With Blake out, someone needs to step in and get some huge minutes on the powerplay to counteract the Canucks' fantastic PK and play some sound defensive minutes as well against Vancouver's deadly wingers.

McCormick played against Detroit last game too.

What a freaking joke Ruutu is. That dive was terrible. I'm still awestruck that they even gave Skoula a penalty on that play at all.

and yes how did skoula get a penalty while ruutu got one too. they should give it to one or the other.

0-0 after one. The Avs are lucky that they haven't been scratched by that Vancouver powerplay thus far. However, the refs sure haven't earned their checks thusfar tonight. Terrible calls through 20...seems like each one of which has benefitted the away team.

Another thing--after Keane got away with his dive, I smiled thinking of the hypocrisy which sometimes emits from the mouths of unnamed Canuck fans on the boards here.

I seriously don't understand why the refs didn't call roughing on May. That was such a blatant shot.

I'm definitely expecting it to get even more chippier in the 3rd.
