Not totally sure how relevant it is if he is just some guy. Aren't we all?

I do know him. His boy plays on my son's hockey team here in Columbus. Passionate hockey fan. He at least has the stones to throw his real name out there to backup his opinions. His information and research are thorough and thought out. Can't comment on his sources, but he seems to be pretty accurate and in the know.

There are times when I get the uncomfortable feeling that he's just rewriting Puck-Rakers or LTL articles and then adding his own opinion.

I'm sure he's a nice enough guy (and I admit I've commented on some of his stuff before over there), but I do wonder if having someone else over there with a broader input would be nice.

It's on hockeybuzz. What else do you need to know?

I'll admit he's not my first choice when it comes to team-related blogs, but I'm not about to begrudge the guy his webhost.

Now, if he starts talking about "Thornton to Jackets (e3)", then I'll get on his case.

He is just some random fan that posted on Hockeybuzz and called in to the radio show that E does. They needed a "Beat Writer " for the Blue Jackets so they picked him. He did a couple podcast that were pretty bad. It sounded like a guy in late 30's and a couple of teenagers.

Yeah. Bloggers suck in general.

But, seriously. I do have a natural begrudgement (lawl made-up word) against Hockeybuzz "bloggers".

The thing is, it's as easy as making cereal to just start a Blogger account, or a Wordpress account, or some other blog account on an independent website. The only rationale I see behind trying to be on Hockeyblabber is for the natural hits you'll get based off of affiliation, without doing the legwork to get noticed based off of your own exceptional qualities as a writer of a blog.

...or, perhaps, the desire to provide at least some small amount of reality/sanity to folks who would normally take Eklund's word as gospel and never look anywhere else.

...Okay, yeah, that's more of a reach than the Islanders first-rounder, but still, it's possible, right?

[QUOTE]You mean people actually believe stuff he says? That's hysterical I thought people just read it for the comedic relief. I've lost count how many time I've read "per Ecklund..." something that has no basis in reality and obviously doesn't come to fruition.

He's believed enough to make money, at least, which is far too much.
