I think the Caps have the steal of the draft. I see Datysyuk in this guy and Kugryshev was always a big player in big games for the international games with Russia. Many teams will regret letting him go to the 2nd round as he is close to Filatov's talent.
Filatov had 66 points, Kugryshev had 58 points. The only difference is that in 7 WorldJunior games Filatov had 9 points, and Kugryshev had 3 points. The only reason why Filatov was rated so much was because he succeeded more in International tournaments.
Filatov mentioned offhand on his blog that Kugryshev will join the new Continental League next year. I assume it's with CSKA, though that's just a guess.
He's supposedly really good along the boards and brings a solid work ethic to go along with his skill.
Although the players may come from entirely different countries with different customs and playing styles, hockey is not the only thing the teenagers share in common. These Russian players -- like so many at the tournament hope to catch the attention of the scouts in the audience and parlay this experience into a career in the National Hockey League (NHL).
"I dream about the NHL every day of my life. I think only NHL. It's my dream," said Kugryshev.
As per the Russian forum, Kugryshev apparently has two years left on his existing contract. Kirill Petrov -- a higher rated Russian which the Caps elected not to take -- had three years left on his contract.

he probably needs another year or two to develop, so its not a big issue (esp with saying he wants to play in the NHL) Hopefully he'll get some time in the new league.
I'm not worried about him having 2 years left on his contract. Malkin stayed in Russia 2 years after getting drafted and he still came over so I'm confident that Kugryshev will come over, mainly because he wants to play in the NHL.

Thanks, I was trying to figure out why Petrov fell so far...

No he does not... He mentions the fact that Kugryshev was offered a bonus by the CHL (Cont. HL)...
Kygrushev will be playing in NA this year... In fact - you will see him in the prospects camp.
