I was thinking more for the Cyclones, at least to start with.
Don't we have enough players on the Cyclones?
Seriously though I think he puts us towards our contract limit so unless someone really sees something special I'd pass.
Let's see, we lost Ferland, will probably lose Locke, might sign Weber, slight possibility we sign Pacioretty, don't know if we'll have O.Latendresse under contract...where's Thief or Montreal when you need them?

Maybe we do, I'm not sure. I was thinking that Desharnais, O. Latendresse, and probably at least one or two other would move up to the 'Dogs next year, but I don't follow the Cyclones much so I have no idea what we're left with there.

Well, there's always Aubin and Gleed who may finally stick with the Bulldogs, Russel, who knows, Maxwell is coming so perhaps they'll try them together since they played on the same team in the WHL. There's also Beauregard who has an outside chance, if he bulk up and become stronger in the summer... Bonneau, for spare presence if they need a goon, but this guy seem more and more a waste of a roster spot...
Clark is pretty small, but in the past two or so years, he's really bulked up. He's put on about 20 LBS in the past two or three seasons.
From what I've seen, Clark is a very good penalty killer and has very good vision as an offensive player. He's got 2nd line potential .. and eve though he's not huge, by playing in the WHL, you can notice physical play doesn't bother him.
Hell, I had this guy ranked in my Top-90 last year.. and I was damn sure after such an impressive season with the Wheat Kings (though he was injured), that he'd get drafted for sure.
As for his team, he finished 6th in scoring (But was injured for over 20 games).. He had the best PPG ratio on the team. If healthy, he had a legit shot at the Top-15 in WHL scorers, maybe an outside chance at the Top-10.
Actually, his PPG ratio is higher than Zach Hamil, who was a 1st Round Draft pick last year.
Anyway, hopefully we give him a shot.. he could be a very good NHLer in 3-4 years.

He's been availible since the 06 draft. So that'd be 3 straight drafts he's past over. Those numbers as a 19-20 year old aren't all too impressive imo. I'd take him only for depth in Hamilton or the cyclones, if he can play a bottom 6 role. No chance this guy makes the habs ever.
No new signings, please. The Habs will struggle paying Sundin, Tanguay, and perhaps A. Kostitsyn. Better that they shed some excess, such as Dandenault, Grabovski, and (if they sign Sundin) Streit.

As long as the player is in the minors, his salary won't affect the cap. This Andrew Clark kid seems to be a real long term project but I honestly can't see the habs being interested. If he's passed on two consecutive drafts then there is obviously some problems in his game other then his size that stops him from garnering any interest from scouts.
Those numbers aren't all that impressive to me either. Smaller players have to do a lot more to get noticed then a bit over a PPG in the WHL.
As an example. I went to college with a guy who was an excellant hockey player and usually lead his prep-school team in points by seasons end every season. Only problem was that he was 5'6 and had a muscular build but he still wasn't big enough to go anywhere with a career in hockey.
During his draft eligible year for the Q, his teamate was selected in the first round and my buddy went undrafted. That season the guy who was drafted had 35 less points then my friend. The difference was that he was 6'3, 195 lbs.

Not much reading the board.
28 players under contract on july 1st, + O.Latendresse since the trade should be completed, + RFA A.Kost, Gorges, Grabo, O'Byrne, Halak, Degon, Locke, Bonneau + maybe Streit, Weber, Desjardins = 40

Thanks. Not as bad as I thought.
Sure, I'd be up for signing him, but I'd say 2nd line upside is really stretching it. His .29 PPG increase is more suggestive of 3rd line duties, perhaps he can become a Gilchrist type of player.
I don't see what's special about him. 5'10, very little goals, ppg at like 20 years old in the juniors isn't impressive numbers. He isn't even a high +- player either. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but why him?

I've just liked the kid since I saw him. And he seems dedicated to packing on weight to bring a better build. When I first seen him two season ago, he was tiny. Like.. 160 pounds soaking wet. He's up to 180 pounds within two years.. and his overall game is just great.
He was used as a PKer and a PP specialist for the Wheat Kings, who were a middle of pack team in the WHL.
He would for sure be a project, but what would be the problem with giving him an ECHL or AHL contract?
He's got good speed, smart hockey sense, good vision, and he's a great passer. His shot is not perfect and his size is still an issue, even though he's improving it.
He was part of TEAM WHL for the Russia/Canada challenge as well.

Well the Habs have to sign more players unless they want to play like 4 D in hamilton and go with 1 goalie all year. Plus you can sign a few to AHL contracts.
As for the 50 contract limit, we should be in ok shape,
that's 31 guys that are or will be under contract. Grabo, Locke, Milroy, Archer, Degon, Weber, some of these guys will be signed I'm thinking, with 3 guys on AHL contracts next season (Beauregard/Desharnais/Martin)
We must sign a 3rd string goalie and a backup (Desjardins). Add we have to add some defense to Hamilton, as we only have Valentenko/Carle/Weber/Martin (can't see Weber not being signed)
