this is his payday for his career, he was a late bloomer and is looking to cash in hence the reason he left buffalo.........HE IS NOT A #1 DMAN!!!!!
all forwards have to do is go to the outside and shield the puck and get the puck deep and he loses his guy ALL the time....honestly, how many of you people have seen him play for an extended amount of time?
also, dont you think its funny how two teams, buffalo and SJ who both have the cap room and have seen him for longer than any of you have dont want him on their team anymore for what he is going to ask for?.....
again, to reitorate, he will not be taking a paycut as he wouldnt take one to stay in buffalo and he will be lookig for 8 million a year as he is a 28 year old d-man who is overhyped because of his spin-o-ramas, but like someone else said, he is a winger in a defensemans body.....he is good offensively but bad defensively, something this team doesnt need.....whoever pays him is going to regret it
Again, I never said I was advocating an offer-sheet to anyone. I'm not sure why you're still harping on that. If we could work out a trade for Weber or JBo, I think it's a fantastic play.
In three years our D could look like:
Staal - Sanguinetti
Weber/JBo - Del Zotto
Girardi - Tyutin
That is obscene depth and talent.
I think so as well. He's the type of PP acquisition we're looking for. He's a shooter, not a passer, which is exactly what our PP is lacking.
And Campbell stinks on D and will be 6+ million. Not to mention if we resign Jagr we'd have 3 PP QB's in Jagr, Gomez and Campbell with 2 more in Sanguinetti and Del Zotto waiting in the wings.
I don't like Souray either. However, with Gomez signed long term and Sanguinetti getting very close to the jump to the NHL, do we really need a 3rd PP QB? Campbell isn't a shooter. He's scored more than 10 goals only twice in his career since turning pro. We need a big shot from the back-end, not another assist machine.
McCabe was also the Leafs best d-man when he came back from injury.
Good point good point, I could see the powerplay just getting worse with everyone trying to pass all the time. Its just hard to say who is going to find chemistry with who...Gomez doesn't have it with Jagr, Rozy did kind of but he doesn't shoot enough. McCabe has a decent shot but I dont see that fixing the PP right away...Campbell might also help our transition game with his awesome first passes and vision. It's tough. I doubt McCabe waives his NMC...
I still think Redden would be the best option for the money, he also might take a shorter contract than Campbell which would be perfect.
This is like the 3rd post you've mentioned signing Campbell for a discount. What discount?
Alright I quit,haha...............fine apparently Brian Campbell stinks and won't help the Powerplay
as for discount what I am saying is they can talk to him and offer 6.5 tops......if he takes it great
why does everyone think just cause he asks for 8 he will get it...........he won't ..............he'll get less and will come to NY to play in the same state he always played in and to play with Drury
if he doesnt then oh freaking well they tried................and they will just go elsewhere
Avery is the same example , he can ask for 4 all he wants and maybe at that rate someone will be drunk and give him close but he may come to the realization that playing in NY for 2.75 and all the extra coverage and media he gets is worth it

Campbell was drafted to Buffalo and played for San Jose. your whole theory is flawed.
LOL come back to earth dude you're floating away!!!
I must say this is fun............guys u can say all u want but guess what.............the Rangers want to sign him............the end
they know his tag will be high...........they are obviously entertaining giving him atleast 6 .................will they go much higher , likely not..............
Campbell costs 7 million and Vandermeer costs 1 million
Orpik cost 4 million and Streit costs another 4 million
What's the better combo?
And I will ask what would you do on D then? and how much would you spend on those FA?
Honestly out of those choices id take Orpik and run. Vandermeer SUCKS...and 7 mil for campbell would hurt. with those choices right in front of me i take Orpik. Streit is worth no where near 4 mil IMO.
We gave Chris ****ing Drury 7 million. There's no doubt in my mind that Slats will give Campbell 7.5-8.
OK so Vandermeer does stink ,haha but he is a 6th Dman and cheap............but he was just an example their are others just like him that can fill the role
So out of the teams that won the Stanley cup the last few yrs.......did they not have a great 1-2 combo on D.......Niedermeyer, Pronger.......Lidstrom, Rafalski
I guess Liles and Staal are gonna tear it up
If u want to win you have to take some gambles
The Rangers can cause they have a good players in the minors that are almost ready and can fill the 3rd and 4th lines cheap and the last D pairing
