Any Real Word On Ryder's Destination?

With all of the hype surrounding the draft this past weekend, word on Streit's negotiations possibly on Monday, I have not read anything regarding Ryder's situation. I understand Gainey will probably let him walk, however, I have not read of any possible inquiries by other teams. Has anyone heard of any team who might be interested in his services??

I have a feeling Vancouver will try to get him...they're desperate

It will indeed be to Vancouver or a team like Pittsburgh. It will probably be for one year . If he goes to Pitts, he could inflate his numbers to get a decent pay cheque in 09-10. As for Vancouver, the team is starved for offense. They cannot score. So Ryder may fit with the Sedins. The only problem? He has to stop stick handling himself and allow the Sedins to find him so he can utilize his only serviceable skill, his shot.

Agreed. Ryder's only asset is his shot from the slot in. Otherwise, he cannot, for the life of him, stickhandle, he cannot check, he is a straight up and down the wing skate at best, and he cannot play the point on a pp. I would say if Tanguay was brought in to replace Gainey did a great job! It's good to have Alex home!

Boston maybe? A connection with coach Julien?

That'd be my guess also. I think Boston makes a serious pitch for Hossa, and if they miss out, Ryder is one cheaper back-up plan to add a scoring winger.

I've heard of interest from Boston, Pittsburgh and Vancouver.
Pittsburgh is in dire need of Wingers even if they resign Hossa.
Boston is looking for more offense but Ryder doesn't really fit their "hard-nose" mold of a team.
Vancouver is looking for offense desperately.

I've also read somewhere that Calgary might be interested.
New York will more likely than not let Straka and Avery walk so there might be a demand there too.

I think he'll want to go out West but I've heard of interest from the Rags and the Ruins.

I wonder what's worse: Sitting in the press box while your team spanks another repeatedly, or being on a team that your old team is spanking repeatedly...

Julien, Vignault and Therrien - all his ex-coaches - are probably thinking that they are able to re-start him.

Why not calgary? Might lure his brother back to the team.

Not at the cost of Ryder. Why sign him when they're trying for Tavares/Hedman sweepstakes?

Vancouver would be a very likely destination.

Julien was his ex-coach for Junior, Minors and Pro. Therrien for a season in Quebec City, but Vigneault never was.
