Vinnie's off the market...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3460314

9 year deal - I'm only posting this because I think these contracts are getting intersting. $8.55MM per - we'll see in a couple years how that works out for them.

No suprise there, but jeez thats a long time with Barry

Barry M keeps saying that they'll be very active in the FA market, I guess this limits them a little bit.

And he's getting more rich...

I wonder how these 9 year contracts actually play out. The assumption is that the cap will continue to increase, since in the first few years it's increased a fair amount. At what point does the cap start to level off? Weird thinking Vinnie will be 37 when his contract is up (and I will be 48). The kids grow up so fast.

And I wonder...

if this affects anyone in today's UFA market - they're not looking to save for Vinnie in '09 anymore...

My guess is all these super-long contracts can get blown up at the next CBA.

They ought to pay Vinny as much as they possibly can, you know he will just donate it to charity. The hospital wing donation was one of the greatest deeds I have seen a hockey player do.

He is as much a great individual as he is hockey player.

He and Stamkos will tear it up down here for years to come.

Should be fun to watch, not to play against, but fun to watch.

I love it when players show loyalty to a team even when they struggle. I also love great players staying with one team their entire careers. Considering Hossa's expected to get $8.5 million a year, giving Vinny $8.55 million a year is a steal.
