What it is is obviously a Blizzard franchise fighting game, like Marvel vs. Capcom or Super Smash Bros. Imagine a free for all with Kerrigan, Olaf, Thrall and Deckard Cain.
It looks like they haven't tweaked the game play too much and that is a great thing. Diablo 2 was nearly perfect. This might the the most anticipated game to date.
Looks awesome imo. I'm so glad they aren't drastically changing anything about Diablo. I'd still be playing d2 right now if they'd just get rid of the hackers/dupes.
From what I can tell by doing basic research on D2 its an offline game but you can go online and go into dungeons or whatever with other people....but is that really as far as the online goes? I know its not a MMO game so your not in an online world the whole time...

Well, it's both single player and multiplayer. Most people play it for the multi, which is primarily on Battle.net. You start in a chat lobby, private rooms and all that random stuff is there for you to use... Then you can join/create games, and if I recall correctly, up to 8 people can be in a game. The more people in the game, the more difficult the enemies. Basically, it's fun as hell, and I hope they don't make it an MMO because to be honest, I never really liked stuff like WoW in comparison to D2.
Oh, and I just watched the gameplay vid. Deckard Cain's "Stay a while and..." had me laughing, I must've heard him say that about a million times getting items Identified. Great subtle little fanservice.
