What's alot worse is how the Oilers NEVER seem to make these type of deals. Good move by Nashville, they're slowly resembling a hockey team.

Sucks for us in the play-off race. Nashville adds Steve Sullivan and we add Tyler Moss.

Very solid steal by Nashville. Sullivan has always been able to bury his chances, very crafty. I really dont see how they are not going to make the playoffs this year.

Wirtz is so bad, its almost funny.

Would you have wanted us to move two second rounders right now for Sullivan?? I certainly wouldn't want to..

Not necessarily, but similar deals go down at this time of year all the time, and we are never part. Even lesser things are given up sometimes.

Some questions here

how much is Sully making and when's his contract up? What's their centre depth like org wise? Right now it's him and Legwand 1-2 at the BHL level.

I didn't think they were gonna deviate from their plan of stockpiling players through the drafts and 2 2nd's is nothing to sneeze at but maybe they think they can sign him and keep those guys together until they can develop another centre of their own.

Why not? Do the Oilers have an abundance of offensive centerman? If it's money you're worried about, move some of the crap for picks...

What good would Sullivan do us?? Sure he might help us win a couple more games this year but he wouldn't have pushed into the playoffs. For me I'm glad that we kept the 2 second rounders.

Good more by Nashville though, he will help them in their first playoffs this year.

Man I wish Lowe could've jumped on this one...he's like a poor man's Martin St. Louis. Even though this year is almost over he'd be a very entertaining player to watch and give us hope for next year. In one of Matheson's columns he mentioned that the Hawks wouldn't qualify him this summer...if Nashville won't qualify him either I think he'd be well worth $3mil given our depth down the middle.

Sullivan isn't much of a centre Chicago fan said he is about 30% at faceoffs

he is better suited for RWand i thinkthe oilers have enough detph there at the NHL level

Good Move by Nashville, he fits their profile very nicely.

I'm neither surprised not upset Lowe didnt do this deal, I'm just looking towards the draft at this point.

For what, them fleecing Nashville out of a coupld of 2nd rounders? Aren't the Hawks just going to re-sign Sullivan in the off season? In many ways I hope Lowe can get this value out of his remaining pieces.

Crazy man. Sully is not the answer at centre, he plays a better RW. If he was cheaper (i.e. not 3 million dollars!!!), then I would have considered him an option. But his contract is coming up, he's expensive, and he doesn't answer our needs (young centre top two liner, goalie). And lastly, I'd rather keep the 2nd rounders. Remember JDD and Stoll? Both second rounders for Hecht.

that's what hawks fans believe(the unrealistic ones.)

however, Poile has said, in three seperate interviews, that Steve Sullivan was NOT going to be a "rental," and that if possible, they'd like to go ahead and get him re-signed before the end of the season.

I think that we're witnessing the last year for Greg Johnson and Vlad Orszagh, though.

Interesting... so far in his debut with the Predators against the Sharks, Steve Sullivan has 3 goals through 2 periods. Last time I checked, one could make the argument that we're fighting with Nashville for a playoff spot. Lets see how our GM responds to this deal.

OK, fair enough. The deal is interesting for both teams. Hard to relate to the Oilers because Nashville already has key prospects and they've got different needs.
