He's a big tough guy, who has no hockey skills. Won't be around much longer.

Call me next time he scales the glass to get someone. He's just not the same as he was a few years ago, and that's not saying much to begin with.

Yep, they're 31-9-4 since they acquired him when he's in the lineup. Of course most of the comments here will be along the lines of him being a talentless goon who shouldn't be in the league.

Well he sure seems to help his team mates relax.

he's also a really nice person. i always thought it was funny that its the on-ice personalities that are so often exceptionally friendly people.

I sure hope so. The stats with him in the line-up don't lie.

He was probably signed because the fans love him, not because of his on ice production. And the record with him in the lineup is a fluke of some sort. If our players feel "safer" with him there and play better because of it, than I just quit as a fan.

Most people here simply don't understand the effect that heavyweights like Parker have on the team, it makes the team more relaxed and enforcers are usually good lockerroom players as well (not all of them mind you).

Oh well, there will always be people who think GMs sign enforcers only for fan entertainment.

Maybe they want Lappy fighting less? He's a great on-ice presence, and with the possibility of losing Sakic, Forsberg, Brunette etc. they want him to focus more on the game than on fisticuffs? Just a thought.

stats can always lie. is there hard proof he had an actual effect on the game? who were the opponents when he was dressed? what were their records? sure, Colorado is pretty soft but id like to see actual material factors on how he impacted the games before calling him some Magic Bullet.

He is a talentless goon, but apparently there's room for those on teams still these days. I remember the last game he played with SJ, he couldn't even receive a pass and he skated as if he hadn't been on the ice in ages.

The record with him in the lineup is quite a coincidence. It sure seems like he offers something.

EDIT: The 31-9-4 was actually his team's record over his past two seasons when he was in the lineup. 11 of those games were with San Jose. The Avs record with him in the lineup is actually 24-5-4.

Lappy can hold his own with just about anyone, but he's not a true fighter. Parker is an enforcer and will ride the pine for most of the season... Enough said. He'll have a few moments here and there to take care of business, and ultimately that's what he is paid for.

Two-way deal. It makes sense. He's absolutely worthless outside of fighting but that's a given. Nice to have him back if for nothing else than possible intimidation and lineup insertion when needed.
