Zidlicky

According to Glennon, Zidlicky could be on the block. Who are some possible suitors???

Well, it's important to qualify your statement a bit. He SUGGESTED that Zidlicky would make interesting trade bait, which I think everyone agrees with. As far as possible suitors...I think a team like New Jersey would be interested, lacking a true PP QB.

Philadelphia, for more draft picks.

The Isalnders might be interested but they don't have much more to offer than picks.

The Devils might could use a good offensive defenseman.

Maybe Ottawa? They could use someone to go alongside Mezsaros on the power play. Maybe Zidlicky for Vermette and a late round pick?

That's the sort of deal we need to look for. Picks do us no good, at this point. It's a relatively weak FA class. If we can address our top six scoring needs via such a trade, it's the way to go.

A lot of teams could use Zidlicky. Off the top of my head: Colorado, Phoenix, San Jose, Buffalo, Ottawa, Vancouver, Atlanta, Montreal (if Streit is gone), possibly the Rangers....all wouldbe interested if Zidlicky became available. Its hard to gauge interest right now due to UFA about to begin. A few days from now the dust will settle a bit, and the teams who missed out on free agents will begin to look elsewhere....

So, you're suggesting that Poile might not be crazy if he doesn't make a big splash on day one of free agency? That he might be waiting to see what happens and then have a player that might be even more valuable to trade? Can the board be patient enough to allow that?

I am suggesting that . I think it would be nice if we brought in a guy like Stillman/Brunette to help the scoring, but even there, these guys will probably take longer to sign...waiting for the right amount of money or right opportunity.

This board can be patient enough. Sure we might get caught up in the frenzy of the day and really want to see someone signed, but we (and most rational Pred fans not on here) know that we won't be signing any of those guys.

Now the main np board on the other hand.....

Zidlicky (or Klein) was the DMan I was hoping Philly would be trading for and not Niskala. Seemed to make the most sense from a needs standpoint, and Zids has a relatively good contract as far as Offensive DMen go.

I'm not aware of what Zidlicky's no move clause said. Is it still in force? And if so, why would he agree to a trade without a renegotiated deal for more money? (Is that not allowed under the collective bargaining agreement? If so, he could still seek an extension, right?) Does he not like Nashville?

Thanks. That's good news. I'm not anti-Zids by any means, but I'm glad we have flexibility there.

we'll conceivably shed 6+ mil off the books this season/off season (Zids + Sullivan) ... which will give us more money to give to Radulov & a top 6 upgrade

The way I understand the CBA, when a player agrees to waive his NTC, he still can't technically 'renogiate' or rework the terms of his current deal. He (and the club) may only negotiate an extension to his current deal.

Not to mention another $4,350,000 when Bonk and de Vries leave at the end of the year.

Didn't think you could waive a guy who was injured or is Sully's contract up?
