An absolute warrior and a great guy on and off the ice, unfortunately lost his scoring touch and probably has too much pride to be a bottom 6 grinder/PK guy.

Thanks for everything, Marty.

.

Decent player that truly benefitted from the players he was playing with.

Couldn't create chances on his own, but was a very nice complimentary player for the likes of Jagr.

Solid in his own end, very good PK'er, generally a very good lockerroom guy and someone that youngsters can learn from in terms of consistent effort. The results may not have always been there, but the effort was.

Is this one of the KHL teams, or just a Czech-league one?

It's a shame he's leaving. He was somehow one of those guys I could take in the late rounds of fantasy drafts every year and he would always produce for me.

Oh well all good things must come to an end.

Great player, and as far as I'm concerned he still had gas in the tank but it seems he chose to stay at home. He resurrected his career in new york and we'll all remember him for the 3 good years he had here. Best of luck Marty.

I miss the days of the Lang-Straka-Kovalev line. That was one of the most offensively gifted lines in all of hockey.

That sucks, he's one of my faves! Hopefully the door remains open for an NHL return.

This is yet another indicator that Jagr will not be returning to the NYR.

Whats cool about that game is what happened after the big hit by Gauthier. Straka never missed a shift, scored a goal in the third to tie the game, the Rangers won the game in the shootout and clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 1997. Martin Straka played with a tonne of heart and was a big part of turing the franchise around.

He gave me one of my favorite hockey moments. I'm reminiscing on that moment. I was shocked he didn't miss a shift and then came back and scored. It was Paul Kariya vs. Scott Stevens all over.

Did he really need to leave his skates...for Straka?

Loved the guy, miss him on the Panthers.
