Best Oiler Fight?

Was thinking about it after browsing the youtube, and Laraque doing the pump up the crowd after sending Simon to the dressing room....

Not the best fight, by any means, just got me thinking:

Dave Brown starting the landmower (to quote Darren Dutchsyhn sp?) on Jim Kyte in the 1991 Playoffs.

Brown's rematch against Stu Grimson is another classic, especially what he told the media before the game... "Don't go stepping out for a coffee" LOL

It's probably not the best, but I remember it as my favorite. Who knows if my brain makes it out better than it actually was.

But it was Scott Thornton and Paul Kruse I believe, in the 95-96 season. The Flames were blowing the Oilers out and Thornton stepped up. It was a scrappy, punch-heavy middleweight bout and by the end of it Kruse was so drenched in his own blood his white jersey looked like a red one. And afterwards Thornton was jawing at him about how Kruse got his ass kicked, and Kruse pointed up at the score on the jumbotron.

Just classic give-Don-Cherry-a-***** stuff.

Dave Brown turning Stu Grimson from the Grim Reaper into the Grim feeder/grim bleeder after breaking his face.

closely followed by... Don Jackson beating up Jim Peplinksi in about 3 straight fights.

Mike Bishai fighting while in Atlanta's bench was by for the best for me. The whole sequence of events that occurred was plain awsome

That's the one I'll go with.

I've been following the multi-part series about Katz and the EIG.

I'm going to have to go with the behind the scene battles in the EIG.

Certainly not the most impressive fight by any stretch of the imagination, but I really liked seeing Gagner drop the gloves with Kesler last season - what a gutsy kid.

Second.

I remember becoming a Bishai supporter after that, thought he might be the next Fernando Pisani with how he really paid his dues in the minors before making the jump. Looks like he's been bouncing around Europe lately though.

What the hell? That fight isn't cool at all after watching it. I can't respect anyone that keeps wailing on a guy when he's down and out. My respect for Dave Brown is gone. Disgrace he's in an Oiler jersey doing it.

You need to watch this again. I remember the game and the post game interviews and Brown said he quit punching him and was going to hold him down then Kyte threw a couple up at him so he "started the lawn mower" on him. That was a fight filled game back in the real BOA days.

Yeah, I was just about to post this.

RD if you look at the video you can see Dave got hit with a good 3 punches, tried to tie him up again, then got hit again with a punch, so i figure he had enough and threw a couple back. Kyte should have known the fight was over, and there is no need to throw while your down and in the position he was in. Besides, this is the battle of Alberta at it's peak, if you throw a punch while your down, either team can expect 10 coming back.

Kyte was throwing punches while he was down and connected on a couple...then Brown beat him while he was down....justified IMO.

I'd have to say Edwards v. Cuddy (with McSorley and Coffey looking on).

I second this.

Do you remember when Kyte was down on his back and Brownie let up (as per the fighters' code)? Kyte tries to land a couple while lying on the ice and the code goes out the window. Gentlemen, start your lawn mowers ...

And that marked the end of the playoff series for the Calgary Flames.

As Jim skated off the ice, he could be heard shouting the word "brutal". The hockey jungle certainly is.

These definitely deserve honourable mention. I forgot about Donnie Jackson owning Pepper.

I can't name the specifics, but I do remember being impressed by a couple of fights with both Shayne Corson and Bill Guerin in Oiler silks. In both cases, I was surprised by their dominance when fighting angry.

Back when players use to hate each other and not just fight for show.
