Jason Arnott

Would anyone happen to know where Jason Arnott lives during the off-season? Or would there be any reason why he might be in Edmonton yesterday?

I don't want to start a rumour (although that's what it might appear) but he was spotted along 124th Street yesterday with "someone who looked like a lawyer." (whatever that means).

He had an illegitimate kid his second season here (he claimed to the media the added stress was a big reason for his sophomore slump).

Very likely he was here either visiting his kid or taking care of some business with the mother.

No clue.

Anyways if Edmonton has such a bad reputation, why are hockey players always spotted there?

And are you guaranteed it was even him?

Because that "bad repuatation" is garbage. Glorified by the media.

Edmonton is one of the top 30 destinations in the NHL and one of the top six in Canada!

It should not be considered unusual to see players enjoying the city and visiting all year round.

I 'd trust the judgment of the person who spotted him.

We really do have a complex about this city's ability to draw a crowd.

So his kid's about 13. Does he play hockey? Has he taken his Dad's last name?

Indeed....

Case in point, I listen to XM 204 quite a bit, and each day that have a 30 second or so (maybe a minute, not sure) spot where they recap the NHL news of the day. Yesterday, their spot had a bit (which was incidently not even actual news) which noted the existence of Hossa to Edmonton rumours. I can't quote it completely accurately, but it went something like this:

"There is some speculation that the Oilers are trying to get Marian Hossa to sign in Edmonton, despite its reputation as a supposed NHL backwater."

Thanks XM for a completely gratutious and unnecesary swipe at my hometown for no reason whatsoever. Jerks.

Maybe I'm being a tad uncouth, but I consider having a kid in the context of a family to be much different than, a walking talking accident.

Idea for Masters Of Horror series: Edmonton Oilers jersey #9 is a inhabited by a womanizing demon who conspires to make the jersey number's owner pay child support.
#9 is raided to the rafters in Rexall on opening night, and come Playoff Game #1, all female season ticket holders give birth early to crash-the-net bouncing baby boys wearing skates, who perform their own Caesareans.
Dr. Frankenlowe and his assistant Igor McTavish quickly whisk away the tots to an unknown location and raise them to become good two-way forwards making the league minimum salary.
Edmonton keeps their prevailing reputation as a child-stealing house of horrors by eastern media outlets.
HFBoards oiler fans revolt online en masse, causing the server to crash.
Everyone starts cracking each other skulls open and feasting on the goo inside.
The End.

Oh yeah, good to see an ex-Oiler back in town. Loved him as an Oiler out on the ice.

And maybe I am being a bit cranky but I always thought labelling kids for things their parents did is a little bit uncool. Not aimed at you. I know it is common behaviour. I just think it is unfair to the kid.

What a pointless, unnecessary thread. Sorry guys, but really? This sounds like something that belongs in a tabloid.

Funny that I can't even imagine those radio hosts saying that about any other team in the league. Unfortuantely, ever since Pronger-gate bashing Edmonton has not only become acceptable, but in vogue.

The direction this whole thread has taken seems a bit distasteful...Let' focus on hockey matters.

Arnott lives in Collingwood Ontario during the offseason, which is about a 90 minute drive north of Toronto.
