The sad part is when all this is over and Sundin doesn't sign with the Habs, Eklown will say something like "the sources aren't always right but there was a very high chance of it happening. A VERY good offer was on the table for Sundin. Multiple sources are stating X amount of dollars for X amount of years."
And then in a few days time everybody will forget about him being wrong for the millionth time and continue to view his scam of a website for 'rumors'
Funny, how much i dislike swedes, i just pray that Sundin sign with Habs. He is that big center we need....altought he is swede
Doesn't seem so long ago that people in Montreal didn't want a Finn either.
I remember a Coach's Corner at the beginning of the 93-94 season where Don Cherry showed a clip of the camera panning the Cup winning bench for the Habs. He said "what do you see? No visors!"(Brisebois was wearing one and he corrected himself) He was alluding to the fact that the Habs didn't have any regulars that were European, and mostly Europeans wore visors at the time.
Flash forward 15 years and low and behold, a European captain wins the Cup.
But I digest.

This isn't a rumour. Gainey is negotiating with Sundin, and a very good offer is indeed on the table for him. Try again.

I have never seen his website. Not once. Something I'm quite proud of, to be honest with you.

Among other "foreigners" these fans don't like are Minnesotans. It galls them that the state of Minnesota lately has been providing far more first round picks to the NHL than the nation of Québec.
Mats Sundin's indecision about where or if he will play next season continued for another day yesterday, while on another front, speculation is hot over the possibility of former standout goalie Curtis Joseph returning to the Maple Leafs when the NHL free-agent market opens Tuesday.
J.P. Barry, Sundin's agent, conveyed in a brief email yesterday that the Leafs captain still hasn't decided on his plans for next season.
The Montreal Canadiens, who acquired exclusive negotiating rights to Sundin from the Leafs until July 1, have reportedly left Sundin highly impressed with the organization.Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher has asked Sundin for a decision this weekend so that the franchise can be prepared for the start of the free-agent market.
Depending on which of his friends you believe, Sundin is not really enamoured with the supposed frontrunners, Montreal and Detroit, would consider the New York Rangers or Florida Panthers, but is also having trouble coming to grips with a final divorce from the Leafs.
They could both be true. Sundin might be very impressed by Gainey and the organization. But he might not be enamoured with living in Quebec. There's a lot of things that go into his decision. If I had to guess, he really likes the thought of playing with the Habs, but he also really likes the idea of living in New York. You can't really beat the quality of life in that city if you're a multimillionaire and a celebrity, of sorts.
Assuming that the Habs and Rangers want him as badly, I think it's going to come down how far apart the Habs and Rangers are in terms of contention. If he thinks they're close, the city of New York trumps la ville de Montreal by too much of a margin.

Guys.. I am getting tired of people trashing rumors and guys who report them....
A rumor generally comes from a small grain of truth... however all dealings.. are coming from negotiations.. and things change.... 2 guys bidding on ebay... I have the winning bid for 3 weeks... and at the last second someone ups my bid... I lose... flashback to Hossa... I can tell you for sure.. with no doubt.. all day we had Hossa.. I was at the bell centre ... we had him... 4 teams were heavy after him... and none of those were pittsburgh. We had the best bid out of the four... in the last hour.. pittsburgh came out with that crazy bid... gainey said we arent going to bid or give up anymore than we already said we would so congrats to pitts.
right now sundin is weighing out 2 options to play or not to play. once he makes that decision .. then he has to decide where to play...I believe its down to three.. montreal, detroit and the Rags....
I havent heard that he is coming.. I do know.. that he is very interested in montreal (winning the conference), the speed, the scoring, the history.. He is big on History and being the 100th year, with the all star game and perhaps an outdoor game ... montreal is a very promising prospect... but there again.. if someone throws him huge money at the last minute... its all gone!
but rumors are really.. just an update on where negotiations are at!
Doesn't make sense. Why would he be at all interested in the Panthers?
Because he is a Loser who isn't interested in winning. 14 years on a crap Lafs team without even demanding a trade or improvement has proved that. He wants to play the regular season, collect his paychecks and leave when the playoffs start. Bob hopefully has moved on to better fish to fry. This guy is just a waste of time.
