I lurk at lot here, but I just have to say, Sean Avery is just not that good! There, I said it.
He lucked out by being traded to a talented team that just didn't seem to care that much. He re-energized the team, sure, but with massive changes happening this season in the personnel department, the energy that Avery brought to the team previously may no longer apply.
I like Avery as much as the next guy, but when I think about it, I like him more as entertainment. His hockey playing, as others have noted is inconsistent, and average. A long-term deal for him is just asking for trouble with the Rangers who are (hopefully) becoming a team of younger players with a passion and desire to win, and not just a bunch of grizzled old veterans who've been there and done that.
