Hamrlik, Pitkanen question

Does Pitkanen play on the opposite side of Hamrlik?

There's rumors that Pitkanen will be traded to a CDN team,

How much does he get payed and how long is his contract, it would be interested to sign him and Sundin, we would pretty much be set.

Hey guys Im wondering if you have want to acquire Pitkanen from the Oil, Im asking this because Its highly rumored he will be moved to a Canadian Team (Not just Eklund) and I hope to god that the Sens and Oil dont make a trade with each other (I love both teams).

We wouldn't trade with Calgary or Vancouver,Toronto wouldn't want another Offensive Defenseman wanting a big contract, So the only choices are Ott or Mtl if he is indeed gonna be traded to a CAD team.

What would you guys offer for Pitkanen?

Pitkanen would cost alot... he would look awesome on our top 4, but damn that would be costly...

And, not to nitpick, but there's already a thread about trade rumors and such...

I stated in another thread that I feel the team needs another top 4 d-man. Pitkanen would clearly fit that bill. I'd much rather pay him the money that Streit will be looking for (and likely get).

What would I give to get him? Hmmm. It might cost a lot. Maybe Edmonton would find O'Byrne + something (maybe Chipchura) enticing. It would definately hurt to give both up, but Pitkanen could legitimately end up being a top 2 d-man when all is said and done. Also, Edmonton just gave up their most physical d-man in Greene and a player whom Chipchura may well be similar to for years to come.

Probably a fair deal, no?

I'd love it if we could ship off Bouillon and Dandy in the process it would be even better... to somewhere but yeah with Pitkanen getting back on a learning curve under Hamrlik we'd be pretty set and sturdy

I'd love Pitkanen for our #4.. but it would depend on the cost. I'm not giving up Higgs, Kost x2, or Pleks for an improvement on defense.

Quite simply since you probably lack common sense.

O'Byrne has a higher upside than Bouillon.
O'Byrne is bigger than Bouillon and can skate well for his size.
O'Byrne brings everything Bouillon does and more.
O'Byrne is younger than Bouillon.
O'Byrne is currently a lot cheaper than Bouillon.

Now tell me why again we'd want Bouillon in over O'Byrne?

How much does Pitkanen make ? We need to keep some money for Sundin.

Yeah, exactly.

If we were to acquire a defenceman from the Oilers I wouldn't mind Steve Staios, the guy is a warrior and a solid veteran and I think he'd be perfect as our #4 defenceman.

Markov Komi
Hamrlik Staios
Gorges O'Byrne

with your history of bouillon posts you are not simply comparing o'byrne to bouillon.... you are simply bashing bouillon any chance you get...

i can see the habs keep both....bouillon has his pros and cons.. myself and many others are ready to accept that...

i love o'byrne he is amazingly mobile for his height and weight and has a good first pass among many other qualities

I am quite simply comparing Bouillon and O'Byrne.

Do I like Bouillon? When he's on, he's a good 7th D. He's not worth his current contract and he frustrates me when he ignores his wingers and tries to rush the puck and when we build momentum in the offensive zone and he wastes it with a poorly chosen wrist shot.

Most of my bashing was done on the Dandouillon pairing, which no one can defend, it was an overpayed, terrible defensive pairing that caused harm everytime it was on the ice.

Same logic as with Boyle.... why get Pitkanen and lose players on your roster when you could actually sign a better fit on the UFa market without losing anyone on the roster.

agreed dandenault is useless to the habs...agreed

bouillo has lapses agreed but no one made a top 4 D unless he has a good stretch and the coach trusts him with more minutes...

his heart and take-one-for the team attitude gives him a spot on the team anytime in my opinion ...contract wise overpayed yes...its life..

but hey we all have a player (s) that we cant stand... me its latendresse...love the hands love the potential just find him too slow for the NHL standard but hes young...

laterz

He's going to cost 4-5 mil to sign and cost S.Kostytstyn to acquire...not worth it. I can see Ottawa or Buffalo being interested, assuming the Sens don't get Campbell.

For TODAY, Bouillon is better, but long term O'byrne will take his spot/ice time. The timing of Bouillon's contract is prefectly in line with O'B and Valentenko's development...next year they can give O'byrne more responsibility and maybe use Valentenko/Yemelin as #6 and 7 and let Bouillon and Brisebois walk.

If the Habs were to sign another d-man, Gorges or O'byrne would fall to #7, I doubt Bouillon has droped from #4 to #6 over the off season.

What would you guys offer for Pitkanen?

Assuming there's an agreement that he'll sign a contract once in Mtl, I would go as high as

Higgins
Lats
Dandy (Salary dump)

We're very deep in the winger category, and we would be a much better team with another solid D.

At times, when he charges up the ice with the puck, he looks like a real world beater. Other times, he is a misatke machine.

I dunno.....

Are you suggesting the Habs trade Higgins AND Lats for Pitkanen? I'm really glad you are not the GM of this team.

I wouldn't trade either of those guys 1 for 1. We already have good young d-men on the way and Pitkanen is wayyy too inconsistant to trade either of those guys for.

Pitkanen has regressed the last few years, struggled with injuries and I've heard he isn't the best of team player...
I wouldn't give O'byrne, Chipchura, Higgins OR Latendresse for him, let alone package some of them. I would have a few years ago but not anymore.
