I'm hopeful I guess, but I won't be too disappointed if we don't land anyone tomorrow.

"Big" names that could have new addresses (in no particular order):

Mats Sundin
Jaromir Jagr
Marian Hossa
Pavol Demitra
Brian Campbell
Wade Redden
Cristobal Huet
Jose Theodore
Michal Roszival
Brooks Orpik
Brian Rolston (rights dealt to Tampa; signing coming?)
Todd Bertuzzi
Doug Weight
Bobby Holik
Teemu Selanne (likely Anaheim or retirement)
Alexei Zhitnik
Peter Forsberg (unlikely to decide any time soon; Colorado)
Andrew Brunette
Brad Stuart
Ladislav Nagy
Bryan Smolinski (heh)
Michael Ryder (heh heh)
Jay Pandolfo
Miroslav Satan
Ruslan Fedotenko
Josef Vasicek
Sean Avery
Brendan Shanahan
Marek Malik
Paul Mara
Ray Emery
Cory Stillman
Jason Smith
Martin Lapointe
Georges Laraque
Jarkko Ruutu
Chris Gratton
Darcy Tucker
Andrew Raycroft
Markus Naslund
Brendan Morrison
Olaf Kolzig
Sergei Fedorov
Kristian Huselius

For a UFA pool widely recognized as being weak, there are still quite a number of potential impact guys up for grabs.

Since the list is so long, feel free to turn this into a game and guess where they'll all end up. Even if they don't sign right away tomorrow. Hey it passes time till noon tomorrow. 17 hours and 20 minutes to go!

Well well well, look who came back from his people's homeland just in time to do his board duties

BTW, that was the worse effort you ever put out for a FA|GDT topic.

ONE Hossa Is Coming emoticon? For something this magnitude you need at least a dozen of them.

For tomorrow.

We'll get sweet Focht all, like the year of the lock out where we signed Dan Focht. Arguably the most futile action by Canadiens management, ever.

You lost someone dear to you on that day??? Otherwise I don't know what you are talking about.

And for all the others who think that we always get it up the arse after July 1st, quit you're whining, Hamrlik was a great signing and we didn't lose the main piece we wanted to keep, Markov. This had a great deal to do with the Habs finishing 1st in the conference, or does everybody forget how pityful the Habs were when Hammer was injured for a few games??

Psychologists would call that an emotional protection barrier as a triggered response.

Guess what kind of individuals use these?

HarryI = bad luck.

On another note, should we do a Predictions game of, like, the 30 best UFAs and see who scores the most ?

Just so you know, I was being sarcastic in my first comment as I don't feel it was all that dark. We might have lost good players for a rental on that day which might have jeopardized the great work the management had been doing with our youth.

lol at this thread...let BG do his job jeez not like he's houle or anything lol. he's actually building us for a cup and another divisional championship...conference championship...and then stanley cup championship...

far as i am concerned no need for ridiculous UFA signing if its going to **** with cap and next year signings and if its going to mess up team chemistry. one ufa is ok if its not sundin its not the end of the world lol. jeez just remember if not sundin then maybe hossa

also adding a center who is a good face off man and BIG wouldnt hurt. Also has 2 cups

Bobby Holik his (last 3 seasons face off circle)

won 58.4% of his face offs last year.(took 1502)

In 2007 took 1427 -57.5%

In 2006 took 1385 ( in 64 games) 55.7%

compare that to our guys?(Good bye Smokey)

I don't see why people would get mad when we don't sign anyone..who's out there that we should get? We probably won't get Hossa, Sundin probably won't sign with anyone for a while, Jagr will probably go either back to NYR or to Russia, Rolston will likely sign with TB, Streit probably isn't coming back, we have no use for Campbell, Redden, Huet or Theodore...and that's pretty much all the big names right there.

I'd be happy if we signed role players like Orpik and Laraque, who would both be massive improvements over Bouillon and Dandenault. And Sundin obviously but like I said, I don't expect him to decide for a couple of weeks.

While I just said that I had no expectations.....I would still like if we can put our hands on 2 of those guys (no Sundin or Hossa involved):

Wade Redden
Michal Roszival
Brooks Orpik
Brian Rolston (Favorite of mine for a loooooong time)
Brad Stuart
Jay Pandolfo (We need a guy like him)
Markus Naslund ( I have a lot of faith that our style of game would make him much better than he was last year)
Sergei Fedorov (Much better option than Holik for me)

Well, you now have my vote....

So if Sundin doesn't come, my official choice of two players would be Holik and Rozsival.
