Game 2: Home Opener: Post Game THOUGHTS & TIDBITS

Just got back from the game. 2 hour drive to LA. 40 minute drive back.

Zebras suck ass.
Blake sucks ass.
Armstrong sucks ass.

Poor Kopi. Everytime he touched the puck he had two Sharks on him.

Brown had another good game. That was a goal, I don't give a **** what the ref says. He didn't interfere or impede the goaltender at all.

**** you Squid.

Moulson's goal wasn't even close. My buddy and I started laughing shortly after he scored it. The only thing he was missing was the soccer cleats.

Simonds is very noticeable when he is out there...and no, it's not because he's black you racist ********. It's because he has a good game. He does well around the boards, is looking for the hits and doesn't seem to get himself out of position. He is VERY wet behind the ears though. He doesn't look comfortable with the puck.

Doughty looked good. If he made mistakes, I missed them and must have been enjoying my 11 dollar Sierra Nevada. He made some very nice moves in his own end to get the puck out. The kid can skate. I was impressed.

As a side note, **** you Squid.

Jack got hurt. Was it on that hit that knocked him down?

O'Sullivan was ok. Not good. Not bad. Just there. That's expected though.

Seriously Matt (CBGB), you couldn't come up with funnier signs that those?
"Kopitar=Loyalty. Blake=Greed"

Fans were great. Loud. Into the game. A LOT of jerseys.

Oh, and last but certainly not least, the Ice Girls...I am amazed one of those girls doesn't fall over...often...

Oh and Squid...

My stepfather called me laughing during the Moulson review.
That was hilarious. They should use it as the example for what a distinct kicking motion is.

Who the hell are they going to get to replace him on the top pairing? Doughty????That would be a monumental mistake. If they are not careful Doughty will be Berg II.

That was a goal by Stoll

our best player was pretty easily Alexander Frolov, he basically ran our offense tonight

I was driving home through the second period and the radio call on the Moulson kick was hilarious. Daryl was adamant it was NOT a kicking motion and Nick thought it was too close to call. They made it sound like Moulson didn't even twitch. I laughed out loud when I saw the replay.

Our top pairing right now should be O'Donnell - Preissing, even if Johnson is good to go.

It was pretty obvious......In fact it was probably a perfect example of kicking the puck into the net.

Nick and Daryl are two of the BIGGEST Kings homers out there.

What did Bob and Jim say about it?

If that is true I hope you were not one of the people claiming that this defensive unit should be better than last years.

That it was pretty much unquestionably a kick.

Just commenting on the Moulson non-goal....

he kicked it in, and it went off of the goalie

Does that at all nullify the kick?

No. The only way it is nullified is if it hits a stick or another player, but not the goalie.

I took my 10 month old daughter with me. I think she actually had fun once she got used to noise and people around her...she watched some of the game. She dug the mini-blimp that flew around. She clapped...just randomly though, not necessarily for any particular play...

The wife had fun too...until I spilled beer all over her...

I don't understand what you mean by that. Objectively speaking, O'Donnell and Preissing have been our best defensemen in the last two games, so it would follow that they should probably be seeing the most minutes. And no, I've never claimed we have a better unit on paper than we did last year. I do think that with a better system it's quite possible that we'll be a better team defensively. But if you're insinuating I'm trying to pass O'Donnell - Preissing off as a legitimate first pair, either right now or in the past, I'm not. They're just the best of what we've got right now.

Only if you take Gauthier and Calder

That answered my question. I just know that some people think that this defensive unit

Johnson
O'Donnell
Preissing
Doughty
Greene
Gauthier

is better than

Blake
Visnovsky
Johnson
Stuart
Preissing
Modry

I honestly cannot see how they could come to that conclusion.

First time I saw some of these new players, but here are some of my thoughts.

Doughty has good pinches. I don't know if he's lucky, but he just seems to always pinch at the right time and place. Thinking about it, they were actually pretty risky pinches, but he seems to have it nailed down. Attribute it to luck or "high hockey IQ", I don't know yet, let's see as time goes.

Simmonds needs to bulk up if he wnats to be more physical. Seeing him play, he's more fit to be finesse than physical right now, though he seems to want to play a hybrid. He's not there yet, but you can definatley see the potential. Overall played well today, seems to have pretty good potential. I like this pick a lot.

Moller is pretty good. I don't know why more people dont' talk about him and why he didn't get more ice time. I actually was really impressed with what he did, creating a lot of chances.

Preissing is our best defender right now. I don't know if that's becuase he's stepped up his game or it's a testimony of how bad oru defense is. Either way, good to have him.

Brown really needs Kopitar to generate offense. Without kopitar, the offensive creativty is gone. But not only that, our offense as a whole was disjointed. Not many crisp passes and easily stopped and contained by the sharks defense. Sharks played well, so credit must be given where it's due, but I think the Kings made them look a bit better then they really were.

Moulson is good, he does his job well, but I prefer him not ont he first line. Espeically when o' Sullivan is available. And concerning the offensive lineup, it seemed like Murray was trying to equalize the lines too much, I think a more weighted combination would have been more effective. Especially after seeing how ineffective we were against the Sharks defense. I do like Stoll on the point for the PP, I think his shot fits well there.
