Penner Horcoff Hemmer
Cogs Gagner Nilsson
Moreau Gratton Pisani
Glencross Brodziak Torres

Stortini
Schremp

Visnovsky Souray
Pitkanen Gilbert
Staois Smid

Peckham

Garon
Roloson

That's not a bad group.

Don't forget Grebs..Yeah, doesn't look too bad but it is hoping none of the 'kids' have a slump. I think odds are at least one or two will and we don't exactly have anyone else to replace them with. I think we still need that top forward to give us some flexability....i.e. cogs/nilsson to the 3rd line.

Dumping Pisani and not adding anyone who can replace what he does would be insanely stupid.

I think honestly if you really want Cole, Smid + Torres would do it.

Cole Horcoff Hemsky
Penner Gagner Nilsson
Moreau Brodziak Pisani
Glencross Cogliano Schremp (new energy line)

Stortini

Visnovsky Souray
Pitkanen Gilbert
Staois Grebeshkov

Brings us right up to the cap though.

Guys like Cogliano, Brodziak and Pouliot will have to share the PK role.. The team did fine on the PK while Pisani was MIA at the first half of the year and Horcoff the 2nd half.

Bottom 6 of Moreau-Cogliano-Pouliot \ Glencross-Brodziak-Stortini is also not too bad. Having said that I am against trading away Pisani.

That's because we had Stoll and Reasoner killing penalties. We don't have those guys anymore, so taking away yet another of our most valued penalty killers will no doubt hurt the PK.

We may yet see Reasoner killing penalties in an Oilers uniform...

Some people don't read between the lines. MacT is behind this deal. Trading Stoll gives him the chance to get Reasoner back, before he gets sakicesque type money on the open market. You want to lock up a player of that calibre.

Pitkanen + Torres + Pouliot

for

Marleau + Setoguchi

?

Setoguchi is fairly tough I think.

Marleau Horcoff Hemsky
Nilsson Gagner Penner
Moreau Brodziak Pisani
Glencross Cogliano Setoguchi

Not sure whats worth more to the team. Pisani @ 2.5M or Reasoner @ 0.9M
Both can kill penalties. Pisani can provide some offensive spark with his sniper'ish shot while Reasoner can win us some key faceoffs esp now that Stoll is gone.

I would take Reasoner+Glencross @ 2.5M combined over Pisani @ 2.5M if a GOOD top 3 forward is in the cards.

I can live with bottom 7 of Moreau-Reasoner-Cogliano \ Glencross-Brodziak-Stortini \ Pouliot if Torres + Pisani can land us a true sniper.

Ari Gold came up with something similar in a different thread. I like the addition of Vanek because he brings size and a legit goal scoring threat.

Pitkanen + Torres + Chorney + Pick

for

Vanek

Sign Hagman as an UFA.

Vanek-Horcoff-Hemsky
Penner-Gagner-Nilsson
Hagman-Cogliano-Pisani
Moreau-Brodziak-Pouliot

I really like Milan Lucic of Boston. Not sure if he'd be enough from our POV for Pitkanen straight across.

But Boston needs someone to play alongside Chara on the blueline, so Pitkanen would be a good fit for them too I think.

Boston won't move Lucic, alot of there fans think he is the second coming of Neely.

I'm thinking Boston's front office realistically would do it. Of course fans always have their emotional attachments.

Pitkanen next to Chara would be a pretty deadly 1-2.

with Garon and Horcoff in line for raises, some cap room has to be maintained. That means Roli and Torres have got to be on the way out. $5.8 MIL is a lot of cap space that we desperately need, and considering this amount is being spent on dead weight there is all the more incentive to move these two.

I think we should trade away Roli, I don't mind keeping Steady Steve or Raffi. After that we bring in Ray Emery. Rayzor can start as our back up but he is still young and I think loaded with talent, plus with the way things went down in Ottawa I don't believe he could demand much money. He would eventually move in to our number 1 and play the way he did during Ottawa's cup run. Next we sign Jagr, does anyone remember the Olympics...isn't there a player he really wanted to line with...don't the Oilers have that player? Putting Jagr and Hemsky together would be dangerous, centered by Horcoff it would still be a defensively sound line. Once you consider our kids and Penner we have a pretty solid offensive punch.

Roloson is already coming off the cap in time for Garon's/Horcoff's raises, whether he's traded or not.

with Visnovsky off the market and unable to come to terms with Campbell, maybe San Jose is the logical trade partner. Souray would probably waive his ntc because he has family in LA.

If Lowe did Souray for Cheechoo, would that be OK?

Kovalchuk
Vanek
Gaborik
Spezza

Any one of the top four woud be a dream deal for the Oil but costly, However a more likely package would be for Zherdev, Brule. With CLB high draft pick Voracek ready, it becomes a plausible trade.

Sign Glencross, Trade Torres
Roloson for a pick

This is just speculation on my part, but does anyone think Pitkanen could be headed to Tbay? Their owner said last night that there could be a big deal coming and St.Louis is rumoured as the guy being moved. PPG played with a decent contract. However, you would think that we would have to add something to even out the salaries.

Pitkanen, Torres and Roli for St Louis?

I would like this deal, but if somehow we could hold onto Pitkanen I would be much happier. I am slowly coming to the realization that if we want a big name forward we're going to have to say good-bye to Joni. Maybe make it Torres, Roli, Schremp, and a #1 pick for St. Louis?

That would be incredible, actually. I have been saying this for a while. But I think we would have to add a bit.

No thank-you Cheechoo is a bum, he benefited off playing with big Joe. We need to add a player who is amazing on his own, not one that Hemsky is going to have to carry. A player like St Louis, Hossa, Spezza, or Jagr who have proven they are elite players are more what we should be looking at.
