Bye bye playoffs.. the race was nice when it lasted.

If this is Armstrong's answer to a "big, gritty winger who can play on a scoring line as well being a major contributor on a checking line", the Stars are doomed. He's Lemieux all over again and he really messed up.

Though I have a veeeeeeeeeery small positive note about this aquisiton, is that he, Arnott and Oliver formed quite a line during their Oiler days. And with the crazy chemestry Arnie and Ollie have, it might be a start of something. Than again, he'll probably just ruin it..

He should also look good alongside Ott and DiMaio, but again, I thought the same of Lemieux last year.

Hopefully he's put his personal/medical problems behind him and can help the Stars out. He can still be a somewhat effective player IMO, and even moreso in the playoffs. Good luck, Shayne.

I would assume Corson is not the answer.

Great pickup IMO, if he can get any bit to the level he played vs NJ 3 and 4 years ago it will be an amazing pickup. He is gritty and can shadow players with the best of them. I remember Quinn had him playing vs the A line early in the series, he shut them down.....when Almo and Gomez got hot they stuck Corson on them and shut them down as well. We still won.

Fine move for the Stars.

He'll add good depth into the 3rd and 4th lines and can still contribute.

I don't know that I'd call them safe in the playoff picture, but the rest of your post is right on.

If Corson doesn't work out, he won't play.

True that.. and besides, he didn't cost us anything, I don't think you can complain about a minor free agent aquisition. You can dislike him all you want though.. cause I do.. somewhat..

Hopefully, he'll fail his physical.

This makes me wanna puke. It answers our questions of what the Stars are going to do to improve: not a thing.

He's probably here only because he's cheap. Hopefully, his contract is only for this season.

Corson > Sloan
Corson >> Downey
Corson > Kapanen (right now)
Corson = Dimaio

he'll fill a role...he's an upgrade over any other 4th line slug we can throw out right now, and he played w/Arnie and Oliver in Edmonton.

Wait till the playoffs, he will be your best checking line player. Experience holds alot of value.

Corson << Kapanen (Kapanen's defensive game has been quiet but solid.)
Corson <<<<< DiMaio

DiMaio is one of the better grinders in the game and plays the same as he was during his prime. Corson has regressed a ton and won't ever mean as much to the Stars as DiMaio. Though the simularities are quite scary, DiMaio never quit on his team.

Sure.. just like we were advertised with Lemieux last year. "Just wait till the playoffs, he's gonna prove you wrong". And look who made the most stupid error after one other vs the Ducks? The Clod was a huge reason for the Stars early exit, which is why most Stars fans aren't thrilled about this move.

hello? Kapanen stinks. He can't even stay in the lineup.

Downey is a fan favorite but Corson has way more talent.

You overrated Dimaio seriously.

Kapanen is not producing and has failed to create chemestry with anyone but individually, his defense has been solid. And we all know how great he can be, and he sure as hell isn't gonna break out of it by being scratched. Kaps has more two-way talent in his pinky than Corson has.

Downey can throw 'm down and turn the momentum around. His play has also improved noticeable and isn't a liability anymore. What makes you think Corson has so much more talent? He was a healthy scratch on a Leafs team and decided to retire since no one wanted him anyway.. Corson is done and the talent he has left is not enough to play on a contender.

I'm not overrating Robbie anything, Corson is just so much more done than you think. Seems to me you are the one overrating someone here.
