I don't know where your going with this Bluenote but Avery doesn't just beat times by being an antagonist, he can beat them by playing hockey, which I thought he did quite well in the Pittsburgh series. He scored the proverbial third goal in game one that should have locked down the game for the Rangers. He also played a helluva last game while injured.

I'll agree, getting into players heads doesn't determine the outcome for all games but he does much more than that as a player to warrant keeping him.

I like the guy, don't think i'm against resigning him.

I just think we overrate his effect on the team as a whole. Yes, he most certainly does impact games, but look what happens when his antics are ignored. He has skill but not enough that you count on him as a go to guy.

It's probably like carrying a grenade. It can do bigtime damage for you, but if you handle it wrong, it'll blow up in your face.
