Long story short, my family doesn't speak with my Dad's side of the family, and we haven't for the past two years... They made their decision, my parent's made theirs, and allowed us kids to choose, and we did...
They just called. My Great Grandma, who has nothing to do with this, is dying. What a ****ing way to start the day.
ETA: Yes, I realize.... She's old and this stuff happens. But you guys saw how upset I was when a hockey player I didn't know died. Yeah. I don't deal well with death.
I'm guessing that some posters would act differently in real life. Like for example, I'm still a little goof ball, but not to the degree I am here.
But from reading threads like the Lounge and this one. I think we've all gotten a pretty good idea of what our fellow posters are like.
I just think it's going to be interesting (for me anyways) to read the stories that happen away from the boards. Like little conversations that come up between you and AD, or between JMMR, Russ and Beaker.
With so many of you that I actually like attending. I'm curious to see all the new stories that will pop up afterwards.
Take it from a M&G veteran.. most of the time, we sit in awkward silence and text message each other on our cellphones.

Sorry to hear about this E, there is outside fighting in my family as well. So I know how difficult all of this can be.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not. But if you're being serious, I find that surprising to hear. As most of you seem very outgoing.
But I guess even shy people can be outgoing when they don't have to see the person they are talking to face to face.
Thanks H... My Dad is kind of upset, but he doesn't show his emotions ANYTHING like I do. It used to be I had 3 great grandparents, now my last one is failing.... It just seems kind of surreal....
I smell a Starbucks run...
Seriously, LW, if you wanna grab a coffee after I'm done work and before the boys get to Montreal, PM me your hotel details. I probably know where the nearest Starbucks is.
That would be fun... provided USAirways gets me to Montreal when they say they will.

You know how the dog and the banana say they're the same person? I'm starting to wonder if we are. Any guy who sees my feet and doesn't run screaming is a keeper.

You're welcome. I'm a lot like that in real life, I keep a lot of emotions bottled up. That's why coming here is kind of like therapy, I vent out a lot here.
You're pretty lucky to have a great grand parent around at your age. I actually lost my last great grand parent when I was 10. 2 years ago my last grand parent passed away.
Now I'm watching my parents closely as they are getting close to 60 now.
Anyways I have been to 1 M&G with HF but have met numerous other posters all encounters have been pretty damn good. With little silence.
Hey H10H
Would you ever want to come to Kingston for a M&G with Beaker Russell and myself?
Actually I like that word too. I called someone in real life an asshat the other day.
That's pretty much how I picture what a M&G would be like. I know there would be some posters here who are shy. But I figured there would be enough outgoing ones to help carry the conversations.
Absolutely, if I can work out a way to clear up some time. I've been trying to find a way that I can actually go to this upcoming M&G.
But since I'm in Calgary during the week and only see my g/f on the weekends. *I have to leave in 2 hours * It's kind of tough to give up my weekends with her.

When did I say she could not come?
Hell bring her younger sister!
Lord, people would be telling me to shut up and sit down.
ETA: H, bring her with you!
I've talked to a couple of posters in this thread that have said they are shy in real life.

I would invite her, but she's not a hockey fan. She would be whining to me the whole time. Then I would have to kill her, and I'm too lazy to go and find another g/f right now.
lol...her sister's cute, but I would kill her in 30 seconds if I had to bring her along.

No way. I can not think of a regular poster that would be shy. It's ok. An hour with me will do away with that. No one can NOT talk to me. I'm very outgoing.

I'm not saying that these shy people wouldn't open up and talk around others. I'm just saying that some posters have told me that they aren't as outgoing as they appear to be here.
Personally I'm the same, maybe a bit more serious if the situation calls for it. But for a M&G, you would have to tape me to a chair to keep me from jumping up and down yelling and cheering.

I'm a talker. And I'm loud. When I am drunk, double that.
I honestly can NOT shut up. It's practically impossible. My conversations with Ozy on MSN.... And he said he was a talker I outtalk him all the time. I WIN! (Ha ha Oz, and you aren't even here to defend yourself!) BUT, he makes me laugh more.... So he wins there

I wouldn't say I'm a big talker, but I'm definitely not what you would call a shy person. I'm also not a big drinker, but it doesn't make much difference. Since I'm goofy enough without it.
Can you tell I have a light workload this week? Although... I am housesitting all weekend, so no Erin for you guys.... I'm pretty sure I'm going to go insane. Luckily I have lots of stuff to do and a wedding to attend.
