As an Oilers fan, All I can say is thanks for taking his salary off our hands. He is not a good player. He had one good season and that was in 05-06. I am very happy to have Brule. This kid has potential to be a star and while Torres is more of a 3/4 line bust. He might be able to turn it around in Coloumbus but I really doubt it.

Nope, you got it right. Voracek is either juniors or the NHL. Filatov can play in juniors, AHL, or NHL.

How's his knee?

I don't know if it's loss of confidence from the sternum injury or not fitting Hitch's system, or both, but I think Brule has a lot more to offer than what the CBJ were seeing. He looked promising in his first 7 NHL games going 2-2-4, then ne got a nasty sternum injury and has seemed lost ever since. I could see this trade coming back and haunting us.

Howson is intent on improving this team. But this doesn't look like the kind of trade we need. Don't have a problem with moving Brule but I will second guess this trade right now and object.

Give me a break.

Torres has averaged more points each season with Edmonton than Brule has in his entire NHL career. I really hope he turns it around in Edmonton, but spare us the crap please.

I don't anyone here sees Torres / Brule deal as anything more than exchanging an asset who might not ever develop into an NHL player (Brule) into one who has at least proven that he can play at this level and contribute to some extent now vs. later.

You know, I turn on 1460 today at noon becasue of the importance of the day. But after talking hockey for the first 15 minutes, Riccofatty says the discussion after the break will be on youth league sports????

Columbus & central Ohio really don't deserve major league sports. For sure the local media doesn't realize that the NHL is Major League.....they would rather talk about youth sports, anything concerning the luckeyes, etc.

I guess I'll just stay with the HF boards & TSN.com..........

Since you aren't praising Torres, calling Brule a bust, and making Jackets fans feel better by saying they won this trade, I don't see your opinion holding much weight around here.

Good for all parties involved. Brule gets to go back to western canada, where I'm sure he'll be more inclined to break out. Jackets get a tough addition that fits in with the team identity better. ... Now free agency...

this trade is about the cbj betting brule never gets it. if he goes there and preforms, yeah we look like idiots.

i didnt want to move brule. but we are not in a position to hold onto a guy to see if the light goes on.

so hard to judge this trade for a year and a half.

other notes, just stop listening to the fan now. there is nothing informative or entertaining going on there.

also, any move we make. be prepared for us to get tore up on the mains for it. we have a reputation and we have earned it. so until we win we are idiots no matter what

If you want UFA updates, tune in online to 590 in Toronto. They're dedicating the afternoon to the UFA three-ring circus.

Yeah I read the main board too, basically we're idiots and Brule will be a star.

Trading for Brule saves the Oilers a whopping $1.2 million in salary this year.

Looks like they'll be singing Hossa.

Not a huge change from the stance about two hours ago which was:
You're idiots and Brule's a bust.

We just couldn't win with Gilbert. We keep him and we're ruining him. We trade him and we're idiots.

I get the feeling Brule will go through a character assassination on our board if he turns things around in Edmonton.

I can't speak for Raffi but I can speak for Brule since I've seen him play every NHL game in his career. He has looked lost on the ice 90% of the time. His offense is non exisitent. Now, does that mean the trend will continue? No, but it will at minimum take another few years before he reaches marginal expectation.

He's a good kid with heart though, good luck.
