Huet to Chicago:

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capit....html#comments

"I just heard from a source that Huet asked the Caps for three years, $15 million and the Caps offered it to him. But Huet told them he wanted test the market today and see what might be out there. Now it's looking like he'll sign a four year deal with Chicago for $5.6 million per."

Cory Stillman back in the Southeast division, signs with the Florida Panthers.

Love the pick-up of Huet by Chicago, I think they just made the move that will make them a playoff team next year.

Doesn't that give Chicago 12 million divided between 2 goalies now though? That's insane. Unless they have a deal in place to move Bulin to somewhere like LA or Ottawa.

They still haven't touched their blueline though, that's the part that confuses the hell out of me. What is Feaster doing? Or is he playing the part of Garth Snow in this farce now?

Yeah, I don't get that either - and the whole Dan Boyle thing is confusing. When Bob McKenzie says they are shopping him, I believe it. It's my understanding that Brian Lawton is basically running the show now. I don't know what role Feaster really has anymore, except in title only.

That may have been the idea, now teams like Los Angeles and Ottawa are forced to potentially negotiate with Chicago. Chicago now has the opportunity to add another offensive weapon (like Frolov or Spezza) in a deal that would send Khabibulin on his way elsewhere.

I wouldn't have guessed Darcy Tucker would end up in Colorado.

Although it was said he wanted to go out West. I thought he might sign with Tampa! (for real)

That hurts b/c I just despise those whiny cats.

But who says Ottawa won that trade at the deadline.

I would LOVE laraque here, but he is just too good to be a 4th line enforcer.....and we are too deep ahead of him to move someone else down to 4th....it just wont work.

That could make the right-handed shot Sopel available. Let the rumors begin.

This is not what the local beat writer is reporting, though:

http://blogs.tampabay.com/lightning/...ing-to-ex.html

"now it appears the team will soon announce a contract extension, believed to be for two years, for goaltender Mike Smith"

(Unless it is a sign & trade.)
